My stressful week with Lexie!

Post by Umber »

What a week! Lexie had surgery on her knee a week ago. Things went okay for a couple of days then she got sick and her leg swelled, A LOT!

After a few calls and trips to the vet it appears she has an infection. Yesterday it was soooo bad we scooped her up and took her back to the vet. The skin turned black and fell off leaving a huge gaping wound. The other side of her leg is black and I am sure the skin will come off there as well. They are keeping her for a few days to get things under control. It is going to be a longer recovery for her. We went to see her today and she was soooo upset when we left. I have never heard her yelp like that. She is getting spoiled, they all love her and said she is such a sweet dog.

I don't know how she could get such a bad infection. We were on the phone with the vet every night because something just wasn't right. I wish they had put her on anti-biotics right from the start. Her surgeon felt really, really bad. Which I am glad because that means he cares!

Hugs

Hi Lori,

I hope Lexi starts to do much better and it is great to hear that the surgeon is so attentive. Does not sound like a nice situation for Lexi. Will keep her in my prayers. Yes, I pray for animals too!

Love, Maggie

Hi Lori,

I will keep Lexie in my prayers too. I know how stressful it can be when your fur and feathered babies are sick.
