Prednisone ?

Post by Mars »

As many of you know - I have been on a high dose of prednisone since 3/26/07 for a major eye infection that will not go away: (3 tabs per day for 2 days/2 tabs per day for 4 days then 1 tab per day for 4 days) These are 20 mg tablets.

My question is................. can prednisone cause aching or pain in the groin area????????? I'm gonna call the doctor but wanted to know if anyone had this experience.

Thanks,
Mars

Don't remember that one, Mars. In fact, I don't remember having any problems until I started cutting down on the dosage.

I'd think I'd call if I were you.

Margie-----I can only say that when I was on Pred.--starrting @ 30mgs(once a day) I was like a mexican jumping bean---
ZOOMED my energy---and then I was lowered very slowly--
30 first week
25---then 20 -then 171/2--15---12 1/2---10----and then 5 fror 2 weeks--

what U R taking appears to be a megga dosage but of course what U are suffering with no doubt requires that amt..

I know I am rambeling on so will have to say I NEVER had any pain whilst on PRED.

When my GP found out I was on PRED. his advice to me was *walk--walk walk* keep them muscles moving!!!!*

I feel so badly for U and I wish I could offer U better *words* of knowledge--

And I agree---call your doctor---might be a side effect---better to know than *WONDER* and be more miserable--

Take care dear friend

Mars,

Pain, (other than eye pain), is not a side effect of prednisone, and it may be a sign of a UTI or some other infection. I hope you've called your doctor by now, as that is definitely a symptom that should not be ignored.

I hope it's nothing serious.

Love,
Tex

HI everyone and thanks,

I just returned from the doctor - they put me through some physical tests including a pelvic exam to make sure that my bladder wasn't falling. That wasn't the problem.

They are leaning towards a GUT issue again.............. I was given
Urispis for a urinary/bladder infection although I dont have one - urine was perfect druing urinaliysis. It helps with spasms.

Continue Levbid for colon spasms and.....

Vicodin for the pain -

They are confused since the pred helps with inflammation and I seem to be having colon/bowel issues????? I'm so confused......

Anyways, I'm under a doctor's care and home on the couch - prolly sleeping before long!

Thanks again,
Mars

Hi Mars,

When I was on prednisone, it caused me to have another episode of C-diff. I think dysbiosis led to C-diff and then to MC, for me.

My GI doc was surprised to hear this, he said that pred is one thing he prescribes for MC.

I take probiotics and a digestive enzyme twice a day now. They have helped me a lot.

I looked prednisone up on the internet and it says that it can cause an upset in gut flora. It was also listed as an antibiotic, on a list I saw.

Maybe the pred is causing your gut bacteria to be out of balance.

I hope this helps.
