HI Laura,
Wow - what a handfull you obviously have with your daughter! She's adorable by the way!

Welcome to our family - you'll find much needed information here either thru our collective insight, experience or history or by asking until you have nothing to ask!

I've also had serious issues with endo - mine also let to a hysterectomy because of continued growth, fibroids, extreme cramping, etc. I don't know if there is a correlation between the two either, except that they are both autoimmune. I always experienced problems with my periods and the pain, etc. from the onset but the MC wasnt' diagnosed until much later.

Good luck with Kourtney and with your upcoming surgery.

Mars

Thank you again everyone.

To Tex: I have never smoked, I will suffer excruciating pain before I will actually get myself to take a pain reliever, and I have never used a proton pump inhibitor.

The only thing I can think of is that I did have a c-section, and I'm allergic to morphine, so they gave me some other kind of pain killer during and right after the surgery. I also took a combo of vicodin and advil for about a week (at most) after she was born. Could this have caused her condition?

On a different note, to let everyone know: they moved up my surgery (thank goodness) to this Tuesday! So I will hopefully be able to focus all my attention back to my children again.

Also, my 5 year old daughter woke up this morning vomitting bile. She did this 2 weeks ago too. The doc said the only thing that showed up in her tests was some irregularity in her urine test (he's sent it off for a full culture now). Any thoughts?

Thank you for the information. I don't see how anything that you have done could have caused your daughter to develop MC. Also, I don't see any reason why the painkillers used during and after the c-section would have caused the problem, either.

I hope everything goes smoothly during the surgery.

Let's hope that your 5 year old just has a bug that's going around. The doctor may have ordered a culture test to rule out the possibility of an upper tract UTI, or because he suspects one.

Is your 5 year old in school? My oldest stepdaughter went through a phase toward the end of kindergarten of making herself throw up. We nipped it in the bud so to speak, but she had figured out she got lots of attention when she was sick and didn't have to go to school if she was sick.

Another thought, back to food, has there been a pattern for her when she does have these episodes. Say, did you have spaghetti or other high carb or high gluten meal the night before? Or perhaps something else that might not agree with her.

Hope you all feel better really soon.

Thank you again!

My 5 year old is in kindergarten, but I really don't think it's forced. There has been no connection with the foods she ate before each episode--and the first time she had horrendous diarrhea as well. I should be getting the results of her test later today--I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Thanks for the support!

Update

Post by KourtneysMOM »

Hello everyone. I wanted to give an update. My 5 year old has a bacterial infection--she is now on antibiotics. So all is well with her. As for my surgery, things didn't go so well. I don't have endo--thank goodness. However, I have a ton of scar tissue. It completely covers my left ovary, left fallopian tube, uterus, and connects my uterus to my stomach and abdominal muscles. It was worse than they had thought, and the doc said it was too dangerous to operate through the laporoscopy. I have to be opened up now. The doc has given me the choice of trying to fix it and then try to get pregnant with my right side before the adhesions grow back OR I can have a hysterectomy. I am recovering very quickly--I don't really feel any pain--I'm now just stressed trying to make a decision. Thank you all for your support and kind words of advice. I appreciate you all.

Glad you don't have endo. That is a miserable experience. But why the scar tissue? Did you have a C-section at some point? There are different techniques that can be done to try and reduce scar tissue after a surgery. I don't know if it's all just debate fodder but I remember in the endometriosis books being discussion about cutting vs. using laser ablation, vs. electrocauterization and which methods caused more scar tissue. Something to ask your doc. For example, some methods increase healing time, but might reduce the risk of forming scar tissue.

How's miss Kourtney doing?

To answer your question: I had 3 c-sections. The scar tissue was worse with each one.

Kourtney is doing okay--we mostly have constipation (rock hard poop) one day, and okay poop the next--accompanied with extreme fussiness. She stil won't branch out and try new foods--but I'm thinking we will just have to wait until she's older, so she can understand why we want her to try new things.
