EBV - Epstein-Barr virus questions
It seems that my wonderings about possibly having chronic fatigue syndrome may be right on the ball. Why, because of the results I was just told about over the phone. I'll update the info if it's off, but here's what I think I was told.
EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG 86 above 120 is positive
EBV Ab VCA, IgG 1058 u/mL above 120 is positive
EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG 705 u/mL above 120 is positive
I don't know exactly what this tells me, all I know is that it at least tells me that at one point I had EBV. When I have no idea. Do I still have it, not sure. Anyone know where I can read more about this?
Thanks,
Mike

Not sure if your VCA is the same as mine, but here's what VCA stands for in my case:
Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Antibodies to Viral Capsid Antigen (VCA), IgG
From what I've read thus far I could have a chronic or reocurrance of EBV with the numbers I have. Given the way I feel I'm guessing that is the case.

Mike-----ok I found out ,in my case, CVA----Cerebrovascular ACCIDENT-
Which I dont think I ever did--- ---but have banged my head a few times---which we all do---
So I doubt if this Brain Cat---will find any lumps or bumps
I still think my symptoms all go back to my 04 hospital stay---

Mike,
Is this what you're looking for?

It appears to me as though this is copied verbatim from the CDC site, (is this plagiarism, or what?):

lHere's some information from a pathology handbook:

Yeah, well my research didn't provide much either. It seems pretty controversial. I either have a chronic low grade version, just got over it, or had it a while ago. The early antigen numbers are high within range making me think that this is a recent thing.
FWIW my naturopath (sp) is treating it like a viral infection right now, but only using vitamins/supplements.
My GP said the results mean nothing. But then he went on to say that all my symptoms are from adrenalin and are physchosematic (sp). Though he still wants me to go to a gastro since he knows nothing about Microscopic Colitis. Funny thing about thinking it's phychosematic is that he wasn't ready to perscribe antidepressants. LOL So I guess he still has some doubts.
About the only thing that I convinced him of was that my tempurature seemed odd. I had him go back to previous visits and indeed I've always been low, around 97 degrees F. He said that he would have ordered thyroid labs, but since I've already done that and as far as he's concerned they're ok that there's nothing he can do. But then even the natreopaths aren't convinced to perscribe cortef or thyroid meds based on my lab results.

Mike,
I checked your journal, and the latest data on thyroid tests that I can see posted, was on July 14, 2005. It was:
T3 Free, 324, 230-420 PG/DL
T-4 Free, 1.5, 0.8-1.8 NG/DL
TSH, 1.61, 0.40-5.50 MIU/L
Is that the most current data? I'm thinking you might have had a more recent test for which you posted the results in one of the discussion forums. Looking at the results from that post, I have to agree that the numbers look pretty decent, as far as thyroid function is concerned.
