snow sleet and rain
Well I guess it is our turn to get some foul weather. I left to go get groceries and it was lightly sleeting half rain. On the way home I am being careful because the roads are slick and it is snowing. Mike says..."oh it won't stick, the roads are too warm" well ha ha! it's a stickin bub! I was a bit perturbed at the grocery, I decided to try the probiotic that Dannon Yogurt has put out. Bought some last week, love the taste but our grocery here in small Ballinger hasn't even heard of it. Had no adverse reaction to it. They come in 3.3 oz and flavors. It's called DannonActive. I had a flare the first of the week and started those at the same time. Flare was minimul lasted one day. Had only two trips to the ladies room (at work no less) So all came out well....no pun intended
Last night I got to sleep clear to 5:30 am without interuption. But once Jasmine awoke Mike got up and let her off the bed. I make her lay down and go back to sleep.....but the sweet little dear gets her way and he slams doors and does all those things that keep one awake, even with ear plugs in. I tell you all I am soooo tired. But maybe tonight I can get sleep. who Knows? Not I
Watch out for foul weather out there Brenda And Tex!!!!! Love Oma

Hi Oma,
Will wonders never cease? It sleeting here too, and a few minutes ago we had a pretty good little snow shower. Nothing is sticking, here, though.
Isn't it strange the way that most people who get up and prowl around during the night, never seem to realize how loudly they are slamming doors, and making other noises that wake everyone else from a sound sleep. It makes me suspect that they unconsciously feel that just because they're up, everyone else should be up too - which is a pretty inconsiderate attitude.
Love,
Tex

Good Afternoon,
We have about two inches of snow. That is how much is on my daughter's car that is parked outside. The snow has started to stick to the ground but not to sidewalks or streets yet. We may have slush (frozen slush?) for tomorrow. I do not need to get out today. I'll need to go check on my mom tomorrow. She is in a rehab hospital and I need to pick up clothes to wash. She is doing great - had a TKR a week ago Wed. They plan to let her go home next Tuesday.
Our snow is falling almost srtaight down. Thank goodness none of that horizontal snow!

WOW!! Sometimes winter just doesn't want to give it up.
Wish I could capture some of the heat we get and send it out to those who could use it at different times....and ya'll could do the same for me with cool...
Hope all the nasty stuff will soon be over for all of you.'
I just wish we could get some rain.
Love, Shirley

It was blowing sideways, but it has been coming straight down since about 11:30 am and is still coming down.....lets up now and then. My Little Jasmine is totally perplexed as to how to get up the stairs without getting snow on her feet. we have a Freeze warning til 8 Sunday and a stormwarning until 8 tonight. Shirley is right, winter isn't wanting to give up. Have never seen a freeze after the mequite trees start to leaf, and they have. Usually a Mesquite tree won't leaf til all freezes are over with. Love Oma

No snow in Houston but it is nasty and rainy!
I have been using the vanilla DanActive for about a year and a half..ever since the GI doc said it was worth a try:) Sometimes Krogers runs out of it and I have to get it at Walmart.
I am the restless sleeper here.. I just leave and go to another room and never slam doors:)

The rain ended here about late morning, and since then it's been alternating between sleet and snow. Right now it's snowing to beat the band - mostly falling straight down. A lot of the snowflakes are huge - between an inch and a half, and two inches in diameter. (Huge for this area, anyway).

Oma,
We probably have had more than that here, but most of it melted again, during the day. It's sticking now, though, and everything is white.

Oma,
I'll bet it was a lot colder where you are than it was here. The ground is still pretty warm here. Roads were never a problem here, except for about 75 miles NW of here. There's not much snow and sleet left here, anymore.
It was a short-lived storm. Forecast highs for here are 53 today, 65 tomorrow, and 80's for the rest of the week.
The jury is still out on the corn crop. Temperatures were right at, or slightly below the freezing mark, but the corn still might be okay, even though it was buried under several inches of sleet and snow. It doesn't look great today, but so far it isn't turning black. We may have to wait until the sun comes out, to get the final verdict.

Sounds as though your weather patterns are pretty topsy turvey over there as well. Good luck with the corn Wayne.
We start level 5 water restrictions tomorrow. Our beautiful avocado tree is being chopped down this week to make room for another water tank. We have had a little rain around here, not much but enough to fill the tank that we have now. Trouble is it does not rain where the dams are. Reckon they put them in the wrong place. This tank will be a much bigger one & we are putting the water through to the house.

Thanks Shirley, Oma, and Liz,
I think that we're gonna luck out with the corn. Can't be sure until tomorrow, but I see some damage already showing up on scattered Johnson Grass plants, and I don't see any corn leaves turning brown, yet. It's kind of yellow, but that's from the cold weather, and excess moisture. It needs some sunshine, and a week or two of dry weather, but the sun never came out today, (so it didn't get as warm as was forecast), and rain is forecast for tomorrow night, and Tuesday. Better too wet than frozen, though. If it hadn't been for all the rain and snow, soaking up the energy from that storm, it would have gotten much colder here.
Liz, I sure wish we could send you some of this rain. A few months ago, I didn't think our drought would ever end, but we've already had half a year's rainfall, in only three months, this year, with no end in sight. I'm convinced that the more we learn about the weather, the less successful we are at predicting it. Hopefully, your weather will do the same, one of these days, and everyone there will be wondering when the rain is going to stop.
Love,
Tex
