Buck , the Mouse, fleas and me

Post by annie oakley »

A while back Buck caught a rat, had quite a time getting it away from him then. He's been a bit of a handful the last two days. Well this afternoon I heard a ruckus goin on outside the door and decided to look. Theres grating under the stairs (for me to have an easier time of getting up the stairs) and I saw Jasmine chase what I thought was a lizzard under the grating. Buck was on one end and Jasmine on the other. I actually was able to see under the carpet that covers the grating and saw a field mouse all huddled up there.
After much shaking of the carpet and a few jabs with a shovel handle, Mr mouse decides he better vacate the premises....the very minute it came out Buck grabbed it in his mouth and started to prance all over the yard. Who needs a :cat: when I have Buck.....So I make for the house to get a piece of food to try and get Buck to drop Mr mouse. :croc: Bucks havein' none of it. He would go a few feet and drop the mouse, as soon as I got close he would grab and run. I then got close enough to try and pry open his jaws.....nothing doin'! Well there I am standing there watching a few fleas travel up and down Bucks nose.....He does not care about the fleas :yikes: So I decide to wait him out. He was prancing around like he done a great deed. He finally stopped, dropped the mouse because he was panting. I swooped, grabbed and flung Mr. Very Dead Mouse over the fence. I grabbed the flea and Tick spray the Vet gave me and preceeded to spray Buck and Jasmine both. I washed my hands three times before I could feel better about that mouse.
And Yesterday Buck Broke loose from me while we walking and ran toward the man who rents out fields (who was in his pick-up) and right in front of him :dogrun: I'm thinking DEAD BUCK! The guy saw him and stopped in pleanty of time. I spanked Buck all the way to the yard. But all is ok now. I srill think I need to wash My hands again Love Oma

Oh, the things our pets can get us into!! I trust the fleas vacated their new home before their home made it inside the house. LOL

Poor Buck is probably still wondering why he can't have his "mousie".

So glad the guy saw Buck in time to stop!!!!

Thanks for the story.

I am sure we could qualify for the circus here. There's a toy at walmart that is a toy mouse, about the same size as a field mouse. I may get it for him. Love Oma

I think the toy mouse is a good idea but I doubt it will deter him from going after the "real thing" whenever he gets a chance. Too bad you can't put some "mouse scent" on the toy.
