I just keep getting more and more frustrated with the work situation.
My boss is being a pain. He and I are not getting along at all. Although he confided to one of the guys that he doesn't know what to do about it. I asked him before he left on vacation (he is out all week) if we could talk about it when he got back because we used to get along fine and I really don't know what changed (me apparently according to what he has been bitching at me about).
Plus we hired this new guy who is book smart and thinks he is better than the rest of us. I have him working on a project for me and he is calling the principals and talking to our other PhD about it rather than me the project manager. He only has about 3 years work experience. I had a bad taste anyway because we interviewed this guy where I worked 3 years ago and we didn't hire him because we didn't feel like he would work well with the group of jr. staff we had.
I'm just so down about everything I do at work now it's not funny. I feel like no one takes me seriously, I'm not allowed to do anything independantly (my boss's need to be a control freak), and now this new guy is redoing things I've done and sounding shocked that he came to the same conclusion.
Just needed to vent.

Katy, you are REALLY being tested aren't you..........
I can't imagine my boss talking behind my back like that. I don't blame you for wanting a face to face. I hope you will be able to keep your cool and really impress him with your control and logic.
In other words, I hope you can "blow him away".
The new guy sounds like a real pain. Having both personalities to contend with has to be hard. Is it possible both are intimidated by you... after all..... you're a woman and apparently doing "their work" very well.
I certainly will be thinking of you.
