Post by barbaranoela »

Hiya Cristi--

Thats was me also---I tried the ORAL IRON supplement pill---and it did a BIG CELAN-OUT--so that was crossed off---good thing the GP gave me 1 to sample instead of paying for a presciption that ended up in the garbage--Hate throwing $$$$ down the drain

I also tried-- slo-time released one---*did the same* and then bought a multi-Vit. with iron---same *runs*!!!!

So now we have the shots---hope they do its job--

How long were U on Iron Shots ---and did they keep your Iron UP--without having to go back on these shots??

Thanks for your info---appreciate your taking the time to relate~~~

Hi Barb,

When I took the pills they aggravated my undiagnosed at that time gall bladder attacks. I went to a naturopath and he gave me iron shots in the bum...makes a mark like a big purple bruise that was then supposed to be absorbed. It took a year for mine to disappear.....I just didn't absorb it. So then I tried the iron infusions. I went to my MD three different times for 6 weeks of weekly infusions. They did raise my iron levels but unfortunately my periods became so heavy and so frequent that it became one step forward and two steps back....thus my unfortunate decision to have a hysterectomy...and you know the rest of the ugly story.

If it hadn't been for the heavy periods it would have been a good treatment. Once my anemia was back to normal I think I would have had to repeat the infusions once a year. I didn't get sick or anything during or afterwards.

I am now still trying to figure out my anemia. I haven't had any infusions since my surgery Nov. 2005. My platelet count is very high but my iron levels are low again. The combination doesn't make sense. I am in the process of having more testing done.

Good luck, Barb. The treatments really helped the tightness in my chest when I exercised and also pretty bad restless leg problems.

Love,
Cristi

Hi Barb,

Are you getting shots or IV infusions? I received infusions...did not absorb the shots...however they didn't make me sick in any way. I'll let you know where my road leads as well.

Love,
Cristi
