Got a second opinion...

Post by CAMary »

And fortunately, she was in FULL agreement with everything my surgeon and oncologist have recommended thus far

She was very nice and *the* bigwig surgical oncologist @ UCSF's Breast Center. However, I didn't like the feel of the place - it is HUGE and impersonal - so I wouldn't want to get treatment there (unless I had to!) So I feel really good about sticking with my local people and getting the "red carpet treatment" Plus, since it is a teaching facility, apparently you get an audience while having surgery (anyone else see the Seinfeld "Junior mint episode"? ) - uhh no thanks!

So Thursday I have a Plastic Surgery consult - to see what kind of :boobs: he can re-create and what all is involved...the oncologist says this guy focuses on reconstruction, so hopefully it won't be a waiting room full of gals wanting to increase their cleavage

And she agreed my family history *is* concerning, and said I should have the gene testing - even though it seems to have skipped my mother - which *can* happen, apparently...

MC is still totally behaving (???) Go figure!

Nothing better than when docs agree for peace of mind!

Good luck with your continued journey. Sounds like you are in good hands, calm, and in control.

 So glad the visit reinforced your prior decisions.

It is amazing, isn't it the way your MC has "behaved" during all this stress. I'm so glad that it hasn't given you a lot of problems.

My thoughts continue to be with you Mary. I'm glad that the doctors agree - makes it easier to make your decision when they aren't differing in their opinions.

Mary,

So relieved to hear that things are progressing smoothly. BTW, did you see the article in People several weeks ago - about the increasing numbers of women who are electing to go directly to bilateral mastectomy after having abnormal biopsies? It is the only way to ensure peace of mind, according to those interviewed. And what could be more valuable than peace of mind????!!!!

Love,
