Had a Nice Thing Happen Yesterday
Well, you all know how stressful work has been for me. I feel like I do good work and clients respond to me, but my boss is very critical and doesn't think I pay enough attention to detail etc. It's this total roller coaster of emotions...like Wednesday, I went to a meeting with a client, had a good meeting, and then boss calls and "I can't review this I have questions", "I changed your budget it was too high" yada yada. UGH.
Well, last night there was an engineering society dinner and after the presentation one of our clients came up to the table boss and I were sitting at and thanked me for my efforts and told boss what a nice job I was doing on this job. Boss is looking in shock, kind of asked me last night about it, so I said, "I sent review comments on final plans out today". Well this morning he comes in again "that was really nice of Todd to come up and say last night, that's what we want, do you know what he was refering to?"
WELL YEAH! I do GOOD work and others notice! I've got 12 years experience in this business, I don't need you to hold my hand all the time. (of course I did not say this to him). He follows this up with "his 2 cents" on the other project I felt good about on Wednesday which is counter to what me and the client talked about (i.e., I brought up that idea, client said no, we thought about that, but prefer to follow this path). I will not push the idea of abandoning the tank in the ground any further...discussed, decision made, done with.

Man, what a real JERK he is (I'm being nice here).
I am thrilled that the client said all that in front of the JERK. Who knows it may halfway penetrate his petrified brain.
Hope more of your clients go out of their way to speak out in the same way (to the JERK).
I guess his words and behavior really struck me wrong today.
Love, Shirley

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
