Question for Tex re: Diet

Post by Magyar »

Hi Tex,

Thanks for posting the diet you used to get well. It's very helpful to me, as I seem to continue to do worse on the extremely low-carb diet. I think I will add potatoes next week.

I noticed you ate pork sausage. Did it have corn syrup in it? If not, where did you find pork sausage without corn syrup? Also, what brand cookies did you eat? I have trouble finding any GF baked goods that lack corn, dairy and yeast. I will steer clear of chocolate in any case.

Thanks again,
Magyar

Hi Magyar,

At one time, while I was on that diet, I tried cutting out all carbs. I lasted three days, before ketosis convinced me of the error of my ways. I hope the potatoes work OK for you.

No, the pork sausage didn't have any corn syrup, dextrose, or any other corn derivative in it. I buy sausage from a small-town grocery store. They make their own sausage, using an old family recipe, and I made sure that they don't use any derivatives of wheat, dairy, corn, or soy.

I bought the cookies both ready made, and as a mix, from The Gluten Free Cookie Jar. They have since changed their name to the Gluten Free Bagel Company.

If you decide to order from them, note that many of their products are available dairy free. You just have to remember to specify that choice when you place an order. (IOW, they can make cookies, for example, either using butter, or substituting dairy-free margarine). You can see an ingredient list for every product they sell, so you don't have to wonder what is in anything. They are not resellers - they make everything they sell, so it is fresh, when you get it, and they have a pretty good selection of offerings.

You're more than welcome,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
