If illness doesn't kill us, dealing w/insurance will!!

Post by CAMary »

Ugh. Freakin' nightmare. Didn't help that we had insurance change mid-diagnosis for me. (Funny that open enrollment is only once a year, but employers can change any time they want - in our case due to a company buyout....)

So the new insurer is questioning all of the bills, wanting documentation of the prior coverage, threatenting to invoke "pre-existing condition" restrictions, and all sorts of BS. We had to request copies of explanation of benefits and all sorts of paperwork to get the ball rolling (they had never sent anything when they initially paid) - MANY HOURS of legwork and time on the phone dealing with idiots!!

And since they are 2 different insurers, we get to meet the deductible TWICE before they each pay up! :banghead:

I suppose I should buy a lottery ticket this week - which is the ONLY way we will be able to afford this. CRAPOLA....

Awe, Mary - I'm with Jill, you sure don't need this on top of everything else! What a mess!

Take one thing at a time and you shall overcome!

Lots of love and prayers coming your way!

Love,
Mars

HI Mary,

The last thing you need now is the friggin insurance companies. And dealing with 2 deductibles is ridiculous. I think we have all had our horror show with the idiots at the insurance company but you need it lease of all right now.

My prayers are with you that you find someone on the other end of the phone that has an IQ high enough to understand the situation.

Love, Maggie

Hi Mary, Maggie was right about finding someone with an IQ high enough to deal with this. I hate insurance companies but don`t know what we would do without them. Hang in there and try not to get too stressed out....one day at a time. Love, Carol
