Having somewhat of a flare - sure it anxiety-related....

Post by CAMary »

Trying to figure how to make it through the next 12 days. First I thought it was some chicken I ate early last week...it is a little better - but not totally - and otherwise I feel fine - appetite is normal, no gut pain etc. I do have a bit of the "butterflies" sensation...The only thing I can logically assume is I am internalizing the anxiety about my upcoming surgery...

My mom commented how calm/relaxed I seem. I'm just plugging along - trying to keep my mind busy - but obviously the knowledge of what is to come *has* to be affecting me somehow....When I was first dealing with this I was very teary, irritable, upset etc - and my gut was fine - now I think the opposite is happening!

I know I can't take pepto - due to it containing an aspirin derivative, 2 weeks prior to surgery - I've tried a couple of single Immodiums throughout the week - as we all know, it is minimally effective, if at all! It is hard to eat boring/bland when my appetite is actually good - but I am trying! Not sure if it would really make a difference, anyways (?) I also am trying to eat plenty of protein, and gain back a bit of weight prior to surgery...

Should I just ride it out? I'm only having a single episode per day (or even every other) - I plan to mention it to the surgeon when I go for my pre-op on Wednesday. Trying not to worry too much since anxiety is a vicious circle when it comes to this crap  - I figure the post-op constipation from the painkillers should normalize everything - since it plugged me up before....

Maybe try some relaxation/meditation strategies??

Oh no Mary...I will be interested to see what the doc says....are you just supposed to suffer? Not a very fun option for sure. Take care and maybe zone out in a warm bath....good luck kiddo, deep breaths....Luv, JJ

I don't know that it will help the symtoms but could you go out back and throw inexpensive breakable things at the garage wall?? I have actually done this and helped at least my aniexity. I am sorry you are having this right now. But hope it improves for you. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
