Blood Type Diet?

Post by Magyar »

Hi,

I'm continuing to follow the high-protein, low-carb diet though I've added in small amounts of brown rice and potatoes. My digestion has improved somewhat since the addition of the starches, but I still have D 4-5 times per day.

My sister has been following the Blood Type diet and has found it helpful in terms of a more settled stomach and more energy. Does anyone have experience with this diet?

Since I have blood type A, the diet, which is mostly vegetarian, would be radically different from what I'm currently following. I really believe I have a tough time digesting meat. Supplementing with HCL has helped but not entirely. It's tough getting the dose right -- I either take too much and am in pain or I take too little and experience maldigestion. I'm wondering if I'd be better off going vegetarian. It's a diet I've never tried. However, I've tried the Paleo diet three times now without success.

So frustrating...

Thanks,
Magyar

It really is frustrating. Obviously, we still haven't discovered the "key" to unlock the goal of remission, for some individuals. I have no idea whether a vegetarian diet would work for you.

I would assume that most doctors tend to discredit the "Blood Diet" theory, since the primary book which promotes it, contains little, (if any) scientific evidence to support the claims of the author. I note, however, that most of us here have type "O" blood, (according to the survey), but that's not surprising, since it reflects the prevalence of type "O" blood in the general population. Here's one doctor's opinion on the "Blood Diet", as it appears on the Toronto Vegetarian Association web site:

Maybe you just need to allow more time for some of these diets to work. Some of us here had to stick with our diet for roughly a year, (or more), before seeing any significant relief. The lucky ones find relief much sooner.
