Hi everyone,
We made it back from Tennessee ok - tired as all get out, but we made it ok.

My gastroenterology apt. is scheduled for Friday but I had a follow-up appointment with my family practiioner today and he gave me copies of the tests.............

Get this..............

Surgical Pathology Report:
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
A. Fragments of benign gastric polyp, fundic type, clinically gastric polyp
B. Biopsies of terminal ileum showing small intestinal mucosa without specific diagnostic alteraton.
C. Random biopsies of sigmoid colon showing fragments of benign superficial colonic mucosa without specific diagnostic alteration. No evidence of lymphocytic or collageneous colits.

GROSS DESCRIPTION:
A. Gastric Polyp: Received in formalin are multiple fragments measuring in aggregate 0.6 x 0.3 x 0.3 cm. ET 1 block

B. Ileum: Received in formalin are multiple fragments measuring in aggregate 0.5 x 0.4 x 0.2 cm. ET 1 block

C. Sigmoid colon: Received in formalin are multiple fragments measuring in aggregate 04. x 0.3 x 0.2 cm ET 1 block.



Lab Work (I'll only report various things unless specifically asked for more)

Alkaline Phosphatase Abnormal at 101 (H) Normal is 25-100

Bilirubin, Total Abnormal at 0.2 (L) Normal is 25-100

WBC Abnormal at 13.7 (H) Normal is 3.4 - 10.6 (could be from prednisone for eyes or from infection (strep that I had)

Neutrophil # Abnormal 7.1 (H) Normal is 1.2 - 6.9

Lymphocyte # Abnormal 5.6 (H) Normal is 1.0 - 3.7

Stool fecal culture report: NO salmonella, shigelia, yersinia, campylobacter, or E. coli found - Many mixed bowel flora

OK - any opinion?????

Yes, I have an opinion, but unfortunately, I have to go to work for a few hours, so I'll have to make it brief.

You seem to have a lot of blood indicators of inflammation, to not have any documented inflammation in your GI tract.

Also, wonder why the doc only biopsied the sigmoid colon? That's where you look for UC, not MC. <sigh>

Hi Mars,
I don't know anything as much as Tex, but I had biopsies about 6 months after being gluten free, and there was no evidence of MC either. If at any time I eat grains (or dairy or sulfites), though, it's right back. I was pretty frustrated after the doctor told me, because I know I'm not "cured", although the doctor sees nothing wrong with me anymore.
