Update: Doing Better

Post by Magyar »

Hi,

Just wanted to let everyone know that my D has been MUCH better the past couple weeks. I went from afraid to leave the house to doing all the things I feel like doing. I've had D twice the past couple weeks and am working on fine-tuning my diet to get rid of it completely.

I'm supplementing with HCL when I eat protein, and I'm following the blood type diet for blood type A. The diet initially sounded absurd to me, but it's been an amazing help. I obviously can't digest red meat and struggle to digest other meats, like turkey and chicken. And, I need to stay away from nightshade veggies, dairy products, etc. Interestingly, it is very similar to the diet recommended to people who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis -- also an autoimmune, inflammatory condition. For those of you who've found success with the Paleo diet, I have to wonder if you have blood type O, since that blood type does well on that type of diet. It's hard to tell whether the diet is legitimate or whether it's pure coincidence that it's helped me more than any other diet I've tried.

Anyway, I still really struggle with adrenal issues. Interestingly the blood type diet advises against intense, vigorous exercise for blood type A (my blood type). I'm an aerobics instructor and notice that I can barely function for two days after teaching a kickboxing or step class. So, I'm considering phasing out of the high-impact stuff and replacing it with yoga or walking.

I'll keep you posted on my progress in the hopes that it helps someone else. Other things that I am taking:

probiotic
fish oil
turmeric
slippery elm
Cortef (but trying to phase out)
folic acid
zinc
Candi-bactin (berberine -- natural antibiotic, I think)
Pau d'arco (natural antibiotic)

I'm trying to get rid of the bad bacteria, repopulate with the good bacteria and seal up the leaky gut issue. My husband and I are hoping to have another baby, but I'm waiting until I'm better.

Thanks for all the input everyone's provided. I've enjoy reading everyone's posts.

Thanks,
Magyar

Hi Magyar,

Wonderful news. It is so great when you figure out what works for your body. Thanks for sharing your progress and what is working for you. I think you might be on to something with regards to the paleo and type O blood. If I recall correctly there was a poll on this forum where about half where type O blood.

I can relate to feeling wiped out after an aerobics class. I always felt the same way even when I was young. About 10 years ago I was having lower back problems and decided to try pilates. It was amazing how good I felt. It is a hard workout but with breaks in between each exercise so I ended up feeling energized instead of wiped out. I think it worked well for me because of my anemia. I did it faithfully up until the day before my surgery in 2005 and in addition to feeling great my body was rock hard. It will always be my goal to get back to doing that again and would encourage everyone to try it.

Glad you're having more fun the last couple of weeks.

Love,
Cristi
