The road to recovery...

Post by CAMary »

Getting better every day! We had a mini heatwave midweek, which is not fun when you are wrapped in a compression bandage and have a malfunctionng A/C - but the weather is better now!

I got the compression wrap off on Thurs - I kept my eyes closed - but Mike watched and the Dr. and his assistant both commented on how it "looked like one of his best reconstructions ever-at this stage"...so he either has a huge ego or decided to do his best work on me - which I'll take! I finally had a look today and must say I was pleasantly surprised - I was expecting to look much more "under construction". I still have the drains in as a precaution against fluid buildup - should come out Tues.

2 girlfriends took me out Thursday night for dinner - since it was miserably hot - they wanted to bring something over - but I wanted A/C, LOL! It was also good to get out for a bit. I have watched 11 Netflix movies and read 2 novels and countless magazines. I'm hoping to get permission to drive by the end of the week - getting cabin fever here!

The pain meds *DID* plug me up - had to intervene when it had been almost a week! Now I've switched to tylenol....Looks like a greenhouse in here - lots of people have sent flowers/plants - it's very sweet, but too many, and I'm sure I'll eventually kill most of the plants!

My youngest brother happened to choose last week to have another "episode" of strange behaviors...so my poor mom was here taking care of me and trying to get him set up/evaluated. She did get him in to see the neurologist who said it appeared to be psychiatric rather than neurological...Anyways, my other brother is coming up from LA next week to vist (he is closest to the youngest) so combined with hopefully me having some restrictions lifted, she will be freed up to deal with him.

Kids finshed school on Friday and will probably be complaining of boredom on Monday - oh well!! It was good to have them occupied my first week of recovery.

Surgeon said he would call if there was anything surprising in the pathology which he thought he woud have last Wed. I haven't heard a word, and I go in for my post-op visit on Wednesday - so I'm assuming all is good in that regard...

Hipe everyone is feeling well!

Love,

Mary

Mary,

YOu sound good and upbeat! Good to hear. Sounds like things are going well. Keep following orders, and hope those pesky drains come out Tuesday.

Goodness, Mary:

I'm really out of the loop here. What happened to you?? I'm so sorry I haven't been around to see how all of my friends are doing.

I hope you are well on the way to recovery (it sounds that way).

All the best.

Love - Momster
