Lots of Damage from the storm here@#$%#@!!

Post by annie oakley »

We got back from Junction Texas this afternoon.....There was no power. There was a storm going when we left for Junction....had no Idea the power was off all weekend. a good part of the meat in the freezer is ok. But all the fridge contents are all spoiled. The lightening took out the fridge...we have no fridge now....it fried the phone...had to go buy a phone to call the electric company. Left cell here and it was dead too. Also Our dish Tv was zapped and fried. It zapped the frogleg on the power pole transformer...I guess I should say it zapped the fuse on the transformer. Anyway....It is now 9:30 pm and I am finally getting to where I can sit and check emails ets. Next is a bath. I am eating crackers....too tired to cook or even go into town to a resturant. Been cleaning out spoiled food etc. Not to mention I gave an elderly couple some of the thawed deer meat...they loved it...so at least it went somewhere good...and it wasn't completly thawed either, it was still good meat. It was cold just not frozen. I am going to go out to the shed and just scream for a few minutes to relieve some stress and then off to the bath and bed If I can sleep. Love Oma

Oma,

That was really a bummer. The timing couldn't have been any worse. I'm sorry that happened, to say the least.

We had a lot of lightening around here too, but fortunately it didn't hit anything important.

Love,
Tex

I think it may be a blessing that you weren't there, Oma. Must have been awfully scary.

We had a bad storm when we were on holidays, but nothing serious like what happened at your place. Just a lot of noise and the power went out around ten pm, so we just went to bed and it was all over in the morning except for having to re-set a few clocks. I got woke up when the power came on in the middle of the night because we had forgotten to turn the bedroom light off, but otherwise had an uninterrupted sleep.

Anyway, I'm glad you are safe and hope no more storms your way.

Love,

Momster

Oma, I'm SO sorry about all the damage done at your place. What a thing to come home to after a (hopefully) pleasant fishing weekend.

Did ya'll catch enough fish? If not, I'll bet you don't even care now.....
but as someone else mentioned, it is probably a good thing you weren't there.

Hope you had a nice bath and a restful sleep.

Love & Shirley

We had a good trip....didn't catch enough fish but before the reunion the other family members may...if not we will buy what we need. We have a reunion fund that all proceeds from raffles etc go into.
We went and got one of our small apt fridges and put it in here. Plus I have a small one in the shed our freezer was ok. Only lost three packs of meat, they were still edible and gave them to a nieghbors wife. She loves deer meat. And it could have been alot worse...I am glad we weren't here. It was storming really bad when we left Friday. Right now they want too much money to replace the fridge and besides if we build an apt we won't need it in here.
But I am happy we are back on track. Dogs are ok after thier 4 day board at the vet. Vet did tests on Jasmine and her kidneys and her liver are fine but she either has an adrenal tumor or a thyroid problem. Tests are still out on those two issues. Love ya all Oma
