Entocort

Post by MaggieRedwings »

Morning All,

Well I have finally bit the bullet and asked my GP to prescribe Entocort for me since I seem to be really regressing with this MC. I hate meds but at this point I am going to take the advice of Polly and others and see if it can give me some relief. The past 3 months have been very bad and nothing I eat seems to be staying with me. I figure at this point it sure can't hurt and hopefully will be the thing that turns this around for me. Will keep you posted if she will just prescribe it or I have to go back to the Gastro to get it who is as stumped by me as I am.

Love, Maggie

I think you are probably making a wise decision. Please remember that you might well need to take the reccommended dosage for a few months to really get it under control.

Sure hoping it works for you...... :xfingers: :xfingers: :xfingers: :xfingers: :xfingers: :xfingers:

Well my GP is not familiar enough with Entocort and the proper dosage so we put a call into my Gastro doctor who has not seen me in a couple of years and we are hoping he will call in a script. I don't feel like wasting money for a 15 minute appointment to rehash what neither of us can solve so if I can't get a script I will try the blackmarket for it. Will keep you posted.

Maggie,

I hope you can get that prescription, without having to make a Federal case out of it with your doc. And, of course, I hope it goes to work ASAP.

I agree with the others, though, if it doesn't work immediately, please give it some time. As long as you have been reacting, it may take a while to get things settled down.

Good luck. I'm very optimistic about this.

I know how strongly you feel about meds, but I am glad you are taking this step. You have been strong and toughed it out for way too long. I too hope this will get things under control for you. I bet you will feel better if food stays with you a bit longer...get that energy level back up.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Mags!

Good for you! You have suffered long enough. I feel the same way you do (about using meds as a last resort), but that's where you are with this disease at this time, IMHO. And I would not hesitate to take it myself were I in your situation. Good luck GETTING it, and keep us updated.

Love,

Polly

Go for the Entocort! It is what really turned me around. I was a mess and the Entocort along with diet pulled me out of it. The Entocort takes about 3 weeks to kick in so dont get down if it doesnt work right away. It is a great drug and steroid- oh is that an oxy moron? It helped me gain a little weight- alough it is not like Pred- and really kept things in check until the diet did its thing. I really hope that is works for you as well as it did for me! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr Fine test shows positive for gluten and casien but negative for soy, eggs, and yeast
Maybe its UC maybe its MC? Who knows at this point, but at least I know my intollerances now... so heres to the road to healing!

Mags,

I'm able to do the Entocort short-term, and I mean real short-term, and it works for me. Let me know if you still have problems getting it - I'm sure I can send you some "black market". You wouldn't believe my medical coverage, and due to the fact I take it so rarley the doc is always willing to write me a scrip when I ask for it.

Love
Peg

I'm sorry you are having a hard time, but hopefully the doc will get the prescription so you can get started with it.

I'll be keeping :xfingers: for you.

Morning Peg,

Well it is proving harder to get than I thought but supposedly the GI is to call me today. If I have to make an appointment I will and get it then. Otherwise, I will take you up on your offer but do want to get enough that if it does work, I can continue on with it.

Thanks and love, Maggie
