Help we need a boat!!!!
Well last night and this morning we got a total of 4 inches of rain. There a waterway in ballinger that will be above flood stage tonigh and expect to see flooding of the park in town as well as other areas in town. This is crazy. and we are expecting anywgere from 20 to 40 % rain all the rest of the week. I may have to park the truck at the and take a pero to the truck Ha Ha!! Anyway....Mike found a piece of cablr from the pole to the house that was bad and causing the breaker to trip, the new breaker he put in. So he band aided that til the weekend and we will fix that Saturday or at least he will.
And Last night Mike walked in the door for the evening and it startled Jasmine she rooled on her back out a sleep and just bounced off the couch like she had an ever rady battery in her and landed on the floor and began to have a siezure. Never did that before. I picked her up and held her for for awhile and it stopped after about 3 min. I don't know if there's something wrong or if it was from her rolling off the couch. anyway will take her to the vet Saturday. All her tests thus far were neg this far and he wants to test for cushings desease. Anyway we are floating here. Love Oma

Hi Oma,
That's a lot of rain, especially for West Texas. We only got an inch this morning, and the creeks got pretty high - I'm glad we didn't get more. It's been so wet for so long, that some of the smaller rivers have been running bank full, below the lakes, for a month or more, now, and some of the lakes are still too full. <sigh>
It's really an unusual year. What puzzles me is that none of the climate experts have offered any explanations as to why these rain systems continue to develop over Texas, and just hang there. They were telling us that we were going to have a dry year, and no one seems to know why that didn't pan out. I hope the high water doesn't cause any serious damage in Ballinger.
I'll bet your vet's hunch about Jasmine having Cushing's disease is right on the money. How old is she?
Love,
Tex

Yes Kathy...we were in a drought last year, Tex has more accurate data on the droughts being a farmer so to speak. We actually got another inch after I posted that post. Mike had put a temp splice on the cable and will completley fix it this weekend. Power so Far (cross thy fingers) has held and stayed on. At least we know the problem. Love Oma

As they say Oma, it never rains but it pours. Hope that you don't finish up under water. The whole weather patterns world wide seem to be in disarray. We have been getting a little rain but not enough to break the drought & fill the dams. Still on restrictions which are expected to be raised even higher if we don't get good rains soon. As they say, Australia is a land 'of drought & flooding rains' just don't iknow when we are going to get the rainy bit. They had had it down south along with some pretty severe weather. A bulk carrier ship was pushed aground a couple of weeks ago in a storm & they are still attempting to refloat it. Here is a link to the story.

Good news is, the new water tank that we have been waiting so long for is to be delivered in the next couple of days. They told us it would be a 6-8 week wait but it has now been 12 weeks. Then all that we need is a bit of rain to fill it.

It's a crime the way the rain is being continually channeled where it isn't needed. We got another 4 inches last night, and virtually all of it ran off, because the ground was already saturated before it fell. We were lucky though - the poor folks southwest of us had over 12 inches in a huge area NW of Austin, and in spots, some of them had up to 18 inches. Yes, you read it right - 18 inches - more than half their annual rainfall, in just a few hours last night. That's almost 46 cm, for those using the metric system.
The lakes have been full for a long time, and some of the rivers have been running bank full for weeks now, trying to get the lakes down to a more normal level, but the lakes continue to rise. Lake Travis, at Austin, was rising at a rate of a foot per hour, this morning. There are several dams in sequence on that river, (the Colorado), and if they handle all that runoff, I'll be impressed. If one of them should fail, look out downstream.
It's still raining, in places, and rain is in the forecast for every day, for at least ten more days. <sigh>

I am so sorry about the rain. I have been following the news all these days and it is really impressive.
And on the other side of the world people are suffering about 40-46 ºCelsius (without a drop of rain).
Love,
Tessa
PS: 46ºCelsius is 114.8º F

WOW - it's incredible!! I do hope it moves out of your territory soon and perhaps spreads itself out thinner so it doesn't cause such severe problems. Apparently, it did rain some here while I was gone. I had 3 and quarter inches in my rain guage. I think most of it came last friday.

I'm in Florida, Luce. Right in a little patch where the rain seems to bypass us a LOT. We did get another shower last night. Almost 1 and a half inches. It amazes me that we can get a lot at a time here and it doesn't seem to cause any problem. It must be because of all the sand. The shower last night wasn't a big one but 3 inches in a very short time in Pa can wreck havoc. Here it's just a good rain it seems. Strange.
Good to hear from you, Luce. Thank you for posting and letting us know you are OK, etc.
