We have Cryptosporidium in our water!
We get notices now and then from our water district telling us how healthy our water is and that it meets government tests.
WELLLLL... the report that arrived today had a special notice about Cryptosporidium.. saying the elderly, young, those with compromised immune systems etc should seek advice from a physician about what water to drink!
How can water that can make so many people sick meet government standards???
I feel like we are turning into a Third World Country very quickly.
I have a water distiller and use that for my drinking water.. have done it for 12 years.. looks like I willcontinue to do so...

Even though they say that water is perfect to drink, I only use bottled water. I prefer not to wait until they decide warning when something happens to the water. This way I am always ready...

I'm not sure that bottled water is any safer than tap water. Most of it comes from the same sources as any other drinking water. At least that's true in this country.

You may be right Tex, but I choose to ignore that and continue to drink my bottled water also. I haven't touched tap water in 15 years. Unless I really had to. Of course I bathe in it but and do dishes but that's it. These are vision I did not nedd. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
Well, of course, it depends on the quality of the water you are comparing it with, also. I never drink water in the local towns, either, because it tastes downright nasty, but the water from the rural water system we are on, comes from good wells, and it tastes great.
Most of the larger cities around here get their water from the local lakes. I don't drink water when I am there, either. If I get thirst while away from home, I either take my own water, or drink a Coke or Dr. Pepper.
Love,
Tex

Cincinnati tap water is really good. Charcoal filtered. Has fluoride. Tastes great. We're lucky though. When we visit the kids in Atlanta the water from their tap doesn't taste good at all. It's okay when it comes out of the refrigerator spigot though. Something must go on in there.
Had to look up cryptosporidium in our dictionary feature. Thanks again for that, Tex.

Tap water here is said to be perfect to drink but we prefer to use bottled water because it goes through a much larger and neutral lab process to confirm that it is right for consumers....

Hi granny!
Does your water come from Lake Houston or does Cypress have a different source?
I so miss the new filter I'd put on Mom's faucet before we moved her over here. I didn't even notice the taste of tap water til I started back to drinking it again. I need to look at the literature that came with our recent water bill to check out the levels again. Haven't had time to do that with all Mom's care and all lately, but I should keep up with that. I also especially miss our air filtration system. Mold spores are going to be terrific following this rainy season we're having of late.
I must say that I've tasted MUCH worse tasting water than Houston's, most of which was in rural areas, and that was a fairly long time ago. I remember visiting in Ennis, probably back in the '50's, and I could hardly stand that stuff.
It's probably much improved by now, I would imagine -- might've been well water???
The water I filtered at home was just about the tastiest water I've ever had, so I'd begun to drink more of it, in place of any other forms of liquids, but now I'm back to old habits.
Yours, Luce

We have community well water... not city of Houston water.
There was a RED warning on the latest brochure from our water company with the latest bill. Of course they claim the water is within legal guidelines of safety BUT they do warn that it may cause a problem for many...
Just filtering the water with a tap filter would not get rid of the problem. I am assuming heating the water into steam and then condensing it will do the job. I will ask my family doctor when I go.
On the news they said there will be a lot of contaminated water after all of these rains...
