I have a delicate question for everyone?

Post by annie oakley »

I know that everyone is in a different stage of this desease but....do any of you experience a tremendous amount of gas? :yikes: It seems lately whatever I eat....there it is. :fart2: I eat non gas producing food and still get gas. and as many of you know, the gas can be a bit smelly. So I have taken lately to carrying around a small bottle of body spray In case. Paleeessse...tell me I am not the only one. Love Oma

Herb Lady

Drinking beer as you have suggested in another post would give me gas++++++++++!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought. Might be worth a try leaving it out.

All those refined carbs are not something that works for many of us.

My most basic concept is that if I am having a problem I am not eating correctly for my body type or problem.

Has worked for me in the past . Works for me now.

Yea , Yea , Yea !

Look forward to an early morning 30 mile bicycle ride while it is still cool and a picnic with some very understanding friends in the early afternoon.

Happy 4th

Oma,

Well, I did, when I was regularly reacting, of course, but it's rarely a problem now. Adding to what Matthew said, about refined carbs, certain foods are notorious for producing gas, and flatus is often an indication that something you are eating is not being fully digested in the small intestine - instead, digestion is being completed by a process of fermentation, in the colon. The fermentation process is the source of the gas.

A common culprit, for example, is lactose, (from milk). If the enzyme lactase is not being produced in sufficient quantity in the small intestine, then the bacteria in the colon will ferment the remaining lactose, and produce a lot of gas, in the process.

Gluten sensitivity is also notorious for causing foul-smelling gas, and can create an odor that's capable of gagging a maggot.

Love,
Tex

I guess I will re-evaluate my eating. I have had the gas before the beer...but will leave it out for awhile. Never thought of the beer. Love Oma

Oma, I am having a flare of MC today, and besides admitting I have been suffering from gases all my life, I can tell you that whenever I have more gases, it is because I am feeling worse.

Before this flare, I had no gases for a while. They returned a few days ago.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I have to say... One of the happiest days of the last 5 years.. was when I had my first dry fart! The sound was unbelievable and my husband said the smell would make a buzzard fall off a garbage wagon at 50 paces... but gee it was a great experience:) Enjoy it... wet ones are worse..LOL

I don't know about the maggot or the buzzard but Robert reckons that mine would kill a mule  He pretends that he does not know me if it happens in the supermarket or somewhere like that & I thought that my grandchildren were going to abandon ship on Sunday. Emily wanted to know what was smelling so bad & when I sheepishly admitted that it was me they both broke up laughing. Kids seem to think that farting is funny. I must not be a lady Peg.

No OMA, you are certainly not alone in this. Robert told me to let one go when I was at my GP's to let her know how bad it was. She said that she can imagine so not to bother.

Since I have been on this ridiculous no fructose diet I can gladly say I have a fraction of the gas that I used to have. Since they found that I am not lactose intolerant and I was starving I tried plain yogurt and have found it to be a great way to get calories ( full fat yogurt). Also I made my own and it turned out great! No gas because of it yet! I can have dextrose which I found on the internet and it sweetens it just fine. Yeah!!!!!

Whoa....I had bad gas yesterday. I ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast and a home made hambuger with tomato and lettuce....by the afternoon I was gas powered! Horrible at my sis's party! I also have had the urge to pee a lot and I was in the loo a lot at the party...sigh. I drank my barium shake at 8PM, right before a dinner of BBQ Copper River salmon...what a cocktail. Actually it wasn't bad. No more food and a barium drink at 9...my test is at 11.....TTFN...JJ
