Thanks, I appreciate that. I was a little embarrassed, though, because what normally takes about 45 minutes or less, must have taken about 3 hours, today. If I had known it was gonna take that long, I would have done it late at night.

Is it really the I-phones that are using up the air waves? I saw on the news that they're supposed to be sent in when the battery needs to be replaced (send in your phone???) and it costs $90.00. Told my husband and he said it's already on the web, how to do it yourself. Thank goodness for "geeks".

Kathy,
I'm just guessing. All I know is that a day or so after they started activating those additional accounts, (remember AT&T is the only service provider for them), my service is crawling along at roughly a fourth the speed at which it previously performed.
The iPhones aren't even capable to using "3G" service, (broadband service), they can only use Cingular's "Edge" service. Until Cingular gets their towers modified to provide 3G service in my local area, however, we're all using the same service, (Edge).
Really, the problem is that Cingular hasn't delivered on their promise to get the 3G service up and running in most of their service areas. When I connect, it shows the connect speed to be 3.6 Mbps, but that fictitious speed is 100 times faster than the speed at which I was actually able to download data this morning, (about 36 Kbps), - talk about overblown ratings. LOL.
Probably, it won't take long for someone to figure out how to "unlock" those phones, and post it on the web, so that they can be activated by other service providers.

Well, actually I sorta have a choice - I could have used my dialup connection, (I'm using it now), but I just checked the speed on it, and even though it shows to connect at 26.4 Kbps, (using a 56K modem, on a new computer), it's actually performing at 14.6 Kbps. <sigh>
Service really sucks out here in the boondocks. That emoticon is definitely appropriate for my situation. LOL.
