update on Cole

Talked to my son awhile ago. Cole is being put into a tortise shell brace. Then they will stand him up and take xrays and scans. If the compression fractures stabilize they will use the tortise shell. If they don't stablize they will need to do some surgery.
My Son told me that Cole had lied to Him and DIL and told them he was staying with a friend when he really went to a party and got drunk. My Dil said they will deal with that end of things when he's better. The Police were alledgely called to the house and said that the kids all had 10 minutes to leave and break up the party. or they would be arrested. There was alot of alcohol there. There were 3 accidents and 1 DUI that occurred within minutes of each other all Involving Kids from the party. The driver of the car Cole was in was not drinking (one good thing) but T-Boned another party goers car and out that driver in the Hospital with serious Injuries and a passenger. Some parents Including my son are investigating, I find it hard to believe that Police would turn Drunk kids loose on the street. I would rather they be arrested and prevent accidents. I hope that report is wrong. Cole nearly lost his eye and they still don't know all the damage. All of the accident victims are at the same hospital. Well that's it. It's hot here and Humid and I am staying in the house. Love Oma

for Cole and the others to come out of this okay. Sounds like the situation wasn't handled very well. I wonder if the parents of the kid who hosted the party are in for some trouble, what with all those minors drinking. Or maybe they were of age--what state?

By the way, Happy Belated Birthday Wishes! We've been out of town.

They are in Arizona....I don't know what ages were there. Everything is still being sorted out. I just talked to DIL about 2 hours ago and they were having trouble seeing his damage clearly on the xrays. There were a couple vertebrae they couldn't see. I told My son I would definatly be careful what he and DIL say until they have hard facts. Love Oma

Oma!!
I hope Cole's doctors can diagnose and get him on the mend..
It's so sad when these young ones think that they are invincible and don't think of the consequences that can come from drinking and driving.
Quite a wake up call for some..
This is a very dark area in my life and when I read your first post about it I got clear sick to my stomach.
Thinking of you and your grandson and his Mother & Father.

I hope that Cole looks and feels worse than he actually is. He's on my prayer list for a speedy recovery.

Thanks....Haven't heard anything new...So I take that right now as a good sign. Last I called yesterday they were putting the tortise shell on and when they tried to get him up (to shoot the standing xray) He got real sick and threw up. Thank goodness he wasn't driving, and the driver of his car was not drinking....but all the other drinkling cause a chain of events that has hurt several. Had Cole not lied to Mom and Dad and gone and got drunk he wouldn't be hurt like this.
I hope they all get well. I will call tomorrow evening to the hospital and see how things are. I think the hospital is Phoenix Regional, Suppose to be a good hospital...but slow on some things. Anyway I am no medical expert and I am sure they are doing their best for all concerned. Love Oma
