Me Again
Well, things went from bad to worse. I ended up getting worse yesterday, and as Mom was getting ready to take me to the ER, I passed out in the kitchen. 2 transfusions and an emergency D&C to stop the bleeding and I'm better and back home trying to rest. I tried taking a nap, but I literally have to pee every 20 minutes now from all the fluids they pumped into me while I was there, so that is out of the question for now. I've got an ultrasound this afternoon to go to too.
I've got 3 surgical choices and 1 medication one. My doc is pushing for the medical, which means doing 6 months of Lupron. I am not crazy about that idea, but he doesn't want to risk the heavy bleeding again. I've never had it close to this bad before. But I guess the risk is there. Surgical options would probably not get scheduled until late summer. If I do lupron, I have the hope of still going to Hawaii, and not bleeding excessively during it.
well my arms are sore from the ivs and blood takes, so I'll stop in later to check up on you all.

Hi Katy,
Well, we were worried about you, and I guess we had a good reason. I'm glad to read that you have things under control.
Not to worry you unnecessarily, but I agree with your reservations about Lupron, after reading Dr. Mercola's opinion of it. I don't know if you are a fan of his or not, but have you read his discussion on that drug?

I'm sure that not everyone has problems with it, but I would certainly want to weigh all the pros and cons, before starting a program with it.
I hope this afternoon goes well, and you can get some rest tonight.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Wow, Katy, what an ordeal!!
So glad you had someone WITH you when you passed out.. and that you didn't hit your head too.
Good luck with all of that.. sounds like you have some tough decisions and a long recovery..

So sorry to hear about your problems. I didn't know you were having troubles. I don't know what surgery you need, nor do I know the timing of the trip to Hawaii, but Hawaii will still be there when you are better! 2 years ago, at the same time as I got cc, my next door neighbor got ulcerative colitis. He was in the hospital for over a week, with IVs etc. He got sick right before their scheduled trip to Hawaii. They didn't go until about 6 months later, when he was a new man! They had a great time. By the way, he takes 12 asacol a day, as a maintenance dose.

Ahh, Katy
I was afraid you were worse since you hadn't posted lately. Sure sorry you ARE worse but at least now - hopefully - they can do something about it. I'm so glad your Mom was there. I'll bet she had a rough time with all this too.
I wish you the best on making all the decisions about your treatment. I know it's not easy.
Love, Shirley

Gosh Katy, you have really had it rough!
Glad your mom was there, it would have been even scarier if you would have been home alone!
Take care of yourself. Keep those legs up and REST!!!!!
It is such a bummer that we have to be extra vigilant when it comes to medicines. Not only do you have to research the side effects for "normal" people but also for potty people too!
Sending love and hugs your way!

Katy, I have been thinking about you the past few days and I had the feeling that something lousy was going on. I am sorry to see that I was right.
Thank God your mother was with you. I bet that scared her half to death.
Now is the time to rest, relax, and recuperate from what you have just been through. I know nothing about the options that have been presented to you, but think carefully and we will all be here in support. We will hover around you like a swarm of little angels. Just don't swat at us too hard.
Lots of love,
Sally

Sorry to hear you are not doing very well, Katy. Having gone through years and years of women troubles that included what you are going through I can sympathize with you. It also doesn't take long before you get anemic. It is a good thing that your mom was with you, and hopefully they will not wait too much longer before they take some action to stop the flow. I know that it can take them a while before they take action, but its something that can't wait too long. For now get lots of rest and keep us updated on what's happening.
Lots of Hugs

Katy!!!
I also had a feeling that you were having major problems when we didn't hear from you. It sounds as if you got hit by a ton of bricks. Fast and furious. You must be so sick and tired of the female problems.
Please take special care of yourself. Is Geoff a good nurse? Take it easy...........everything else can wait for now.
love and hugs,
Polly

Aww - Katy
I'm glad, too, that your Mom was with you.

Do something nice for you today
Best wishes!
Katy,
I had a feeling there was something other than the M.C. that was giving you the most problems from some of your posts. Think I must've missed a few of the most recent ones, so this comes as a real shock!
Like everyone has said, take it easy for a while, ok.
Yours, Luce
