Okay, my Poop Knowledgable Friends...
What could cause greenish dark gray/black poop? Thats what I;ve got this morning. With the week I've had, I'm not super concerned, just curious. I'm now taking iron supplements 3x a day (until I'm constipated...per the doc), had a blood transfusion, lots of fluid, and a sedative with local pelvic block for the D&C.
Would any of that be causing this? I really haven't even had any pain meds although I could uses some for the cramping now. Its not really bad, just annoying. I'm sure its residual from the D&C...didn't have any in the hospital or yesterday, but it started up last night a bit.

Hi Katy!
Yep! Iron pills can cause dark/black poop. And you probably have increased bilirubin in your stools (yellow or green color) from damaged red cells during the transfusion process.
What a time you have had!
Love,
Polly

Hi, Katy
Yes, I totally agree with Polly.
My own experience confirmed it too. I have always had a clear poop, sometimes even floating... Since I am taking iron pills, my poop is black.

the good ole poop
Well, for me the iron supplements caused *D* so thats the end of them-
If my GP can come up with something else---Im not taking it either---unless he wants to give me *injections*
We bought this garlic and oil seasoning---and ohhhhhhhhhh so delicious, but I think thats causing me a few runs also--
I been adding it to the veggies that I can tolerate---
I just wanna enjoy eating something that I dont have to *wonder* about the consequences---
Have a good weekend--
luv Barbara

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
