Eye problems question for all

Have any of you had a feeling of dirt or gravel in your eye? Mine have done that alot this week, and mostly my right eye. There's no stye and no dirt. Can't figure it out but it is bothersome

I just wondered if anyone else had this problem. Love Oma

Oma, could it just be "dry eye"? Mine are that way a lot and I just use the lubricating over the counter drops.

Hope it's that simple.

"Dry eye" does it for me also. I have the same problem: allergy induced. I have to keep moisturizing my eyes 3 times a day for the rest of my life or until I get over the allergies. LOL

It really is a pain, isn't it. I find that it feels like I have gone thru a sandstorm sometimes.

Try using a natural tear drop that you can get over the counter. They help somewhat. If it is truly allergies, you will need prescription drops. If the feeling continues, it is always wise to see your eye doctor to make sure you haven't scratched the cornea.

Hello Oma

It sounds like dry eye to me too. I think it sort of goes along with the territory. Dry eyes, dry mouth etc. I use drops several times per day & also have a mouth spray. One of the drops that I have makes you feel like you are looking through a fish bowl for a while but the moistening effect lasts longer.

Have you ruled out conjunctivitis or pink eye? That can feel like what you're describing. If the inside of your lower eyelid is bright red, it's likely that you have it. It's easily cleared up with medication.

I am with you, Mars. I think mine is also allergy induced. The specialist said I should use over the counter drops, but I have always been against using drops in the eyes and/or ears: so I am trying to cope with it.

I agree w/Gloria. Unfortunately, my kids are altogether too familiar w/pinkeye...they usually pass it around - with scrupulous handwashing, I've managed to avoid catching it - all but once. That time I had the same gritty feeling in my eye...then next day I woke up w/goop.

I ended up using the kids' drops (my lame-o GP would not call in an Rx w/o seeing me - duh - I *knew* what it was - our ped is *so* much cooler about minimizing extraneous office visits for such things...)

Anyways, if that's what it is - you will know soon enough!

Well Pink eye is ruled out...I never thought of it but It may be allergy related...I have a docotor appt tomorrow so will see. I'll just get some non-preserative type eye dropd. Any suggestions on yhe name brand? Love Oma
