Hi Shirley,

Ya still up? I've felt like this all week. OF course have felt different at 6:30 when the alarm goes off. I got up tonight because I figure at least I don't have to get up in the morning.

I'm blaming it on the antihistamines (non-drowsy type) I'm on and the moonlight this week, although its overcast tonight so that isn't the problem now.

Hope you get some sleep.

Well, I'd signed off by the time you posted this, Kate. I feel for 'ya. I really hate lying in bed awake especially when I know I NEED to be sleeping. I know you feel the same and you have to get up and go to work besides.

Maybe we'll get straightened out one of these days.

I've had the same problem, ever since my symptoms started, and the pain from my bloated gut kept me from sleeping at night. My symptoms are gone now, but I was never able to recover my original sleep pattern.

Before my symptoms began, I slept 8 to 9 hours per night, on the average. Now, I sleep 4 to 5 hours per night, on the average, and I can't even force myself to sleep longer, (not any significant amount, anyway).

Love,
Tex

I know I've heard you talk about that before, Tex. It sure is aggrevating and I don't know what to do about it. I had gotten to a period where I was hardly going to sleep at all when I finally asked the Doc for something. He gave me Ambien. It seemed to help a lot for some time but now I still get nights such as the one I posted about. I also feel I have become dependent on it although I heard the "new" sleep aids aren't addictive. Perhaps it just psycological addiction, but if its anything like the psycological addiction to smoking............... well, enough said. HaHa

Do you feel OK on such a short amount of sleep? When I was working I used to get buy on that but I certainly didn't consider it to be very healthy. When I said "get by" I meant just that. It certainly didn't feel adequate.

Surprisingly, I do feel fine on such a small amount of sleep. In fact, if I only get around 2 or 3 hours of sleep, several nights in a row, I feel about the same as I used to feel when my sleep pattern was normal, but something caused me to have to get by with only 5 or 6 hours of sleep for several nights in a row.

I'm a little draggy getting started in the mornings, of course, but then, I always have been. I do a lot of truck driving, and I almost never get even the least bit sleepy while driving. Back when I used to sleep normally, I would sometimes get sleepy as the dickens while driving, especially late at night, (during the wee hours of the morning), which, of course, is pretty normal.

Last night, for example, I got to bed around 10:30, (much earlier than my usual bedtime). Since I wasn't sleepy, I watched tv until I became sleepy, (close to 2), and then slept until 6. I tried to go back to sleep, but finally gave up and got up around 7. <sigh> I feel like a million bucks, though, so I guess there's no reason to complain.

Love,
Tex

Shirley------Lou can sleep but a few hours and feels fine??
He sometimes gets up around 3am---goes to bed @ 11 also--he then goes downstairs and reads--but will doze a bit in late afternoon---

Me---I need big time sleep-----and of course he says-- I could sleep all day

He tried ambien with no luck----so he just lets nature run its course!!!

Wishing some good *ZZZZZZZZZZZ's*

I seem to have trouble sleeping too. Thought it was just menopause symptoms. I also have some hot flashes at night too! My gyn doesn't want to give me estrogen because my mother had breast cancer. I have started taking Estroven PM. It is OTC. Says it is for natural sleep, reduces night sweats and no morning grogginess. I know the herbs in it will raise my estrogen levels some but I feel it is better than taking synthetic estrogen.
