Agave nectar, refrigeration?/TendrTummy or anyone?

Post by Lucy »

Hi,

TT's recipe in the Recipe area reminded me to ask this. Does anyone happen to know whether agave nectar has to be refrigerated? I'm hoping it'll keep outside the frig forever like honey, but just don't think that's the case. Need frig space for other things.

By the way, I've used it in gf corn tortillas -- not bad for a little something sweet if you're not corn sensitive.

Thanks!
Yours, Luce

Hey Luce,

Sorry, I haven't purchased Agave Nectar.. I just use Honey.. so I'm really not sure where you'd store it. If it doesn't say on the package, I guess I would assume it doesn't need to be refridgerated..

BTW, since I can't eat corn, I tried making buckwheat tortillas and they were pretty excellent! :)

Hi Christine.....I'd like your recipe for Buckwheat tortillias...my hubby makes his own tortillias. He's good at it...must be the Cherokee in him. Love Oma

I use a local honey...so I inclined to agree that if it doesn't say refridgerate after opening...don't worry. But I am a worry wart and will at times put thing in the Ice box I don't need to. My neighbor has bee's and makes and sells his own local honey...he brings me honey every time his goats get out onto my property. Love Oma

Yep, honey lasts forever apparently. They put it in the pharoahs tomb, but do you think he'd eat it? MEN!!!

Morning Christine,

I have used it without success but hopefully you are much luckier. It has to be refrigerated.
