Since Polly hadn't logged on in a dozen days, I was a bit concerned about the problem she's been having with her sinus treatment program, so I e-mailed her this morning. Here's her response:

So you finally sent the posse out to find me, eh? LOL! I am alive and kickin' and so sorry I haven't been able to visit the board more.
Actually, I am juggling so many things - more than usual: still working (part-time), taking a course in environmental science at Johns Hopkins U., dealing daily with 3 fragile, seniors with deteriorating health (Mom, MIL, and step-mom) as well as a son still at home, serving on the board and chairing a committee at my local nature center, and my newest activity - serving on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Natural History Society, where I just volunteered to chair a major committee, the Program Committee. (I must be crazy!)
Re the sinus, I have having sinus surgery next Mon.- at a local hospital, outpatient, general anesthesia (YUK, but they need me out totally when working so close to the brain). Seven weeks of Cipro haven't cured the infection but have at least held it in check (and have given me SUPERB bowel function). Of course, I am NOT looking forward to it, and I'll be a rotten patient. I DO like my ENT doc very much and have complete faith in him, however. I have spent this week fitting in a visit to my PCP for the pre-op physical and EKG and the lab for bloodwork.
Thanks so much for thinking of me. I probably won't have a chance to post before the surgery......but feel free to either post this message directly or paraphrase as you wish. Tell eveyone I miss them lots and that they are always in my thoughts.

Jaco, a parrot in Salzburg, could not only speak but seemed to understand grammar. Whenever his person left, Jaco would say "God be with you." But when several people were departing, Jaco would change it to "God be with all of you."
