Hi Tex,

Have you heard anything from Polly? I had a septoplasty a few years ago, and I had to have packing in my nose for a week. I don't think this is what she had done though.

Hi Kathy,

I sent her an e-mail, asking how she was doing, but it may be a while before she feels up to fiddling with a computer. I'm sure she'll give us an update as soon as she feels able. I assume that a phone call is not an option, since her mouth will surely be pretty sore, for a while.

I'm guessing it may be a day or two before we hear from her, but who knows?

Here I am!

And many thanks for your concern and well-wishes!

I survived, as you can see. All went well. Surgery took an hour and after several hours of recovery I was home by 1:00 PM. I was really spacey, lightheaded and dizzy most of yesterday - from the general anesthesia and undoubtedly the morphine and anti-nausea meds I was given IV. Kathy, I did have some packing, which will be removed during my followup appt. Thurs. I hope. It's not very comfortable. Feels like I am suffocating - and also I am wearing a gauze pad under my nose for the drainage. I am so sexy-looking - NOT ! LOL! Have to sleep sitting up for a few days. Can't work for a week and no working out for 3 weeks. Today my main problems are stiff neck and very sore throat - I'm sure from the position my head was in during anesthesia and the breathing (endotracheal) tube.

Anyway, I shouldn't complain. I can't believe what some of you have endured - CA Mary, JJ, Peg, Carol, Barb, Tex, etc. The best thing is that I have no sinus pain whatsoever - I can't believe it! I do have an Rx for hydrocodone but don't need it. YAHOO! Can't wait to compliment my ENT doc of his painless technique. Quite impressive.

OH Polly,

That sounds awful, I remember the packing being awful!!! Breathing through your mouth. Dry mouth, and not being able to sleep. I also remember having to sleep sitting up. I sure hope you are feeling better soon!!! At least it's over!!! Will be thinking of you and hoping for a very speedy recovery.

I'm so glad that everything went so well. It sounds as thought you have a few unpleasant days of recovery ahead of you, but it's certainly nice that you're relatively free of pain.

Really happy that you don't seem to be having too many after effects from the surgery, especially pain. Hope the packing removal will leave you feeling much, much better than you did before the surgery. In other words, hoping it meets, even exceedes, expectations.

and I feel very happy to see that your surgery went out well. I have been thinking on you on our trip and worried about your surgery.
Glad to see that you are fine and not in much pain.

Well, a surgery is a surgery and it is quite normal to feel unwell for a time with discomfort... But I hope that your throat is better now and that you have a quick recovery, my dear friend.

Well leave it to me to bring up the rear on this posting. So happy to hear it went well but do not envy you the packing. Smothering is one of my worst fears.

Hope the pain and uncomfortableness will be over soon and that you can back to the things you love to do. You definitely are a very busy lady but seem to enjoy what you are doing. Miss you around the campus here - LOL - but envy you getting out there and being so active. Hopefully in my retirement years - and not the working years - I will be able to contribute like you do.

Hi Polly,
Ditto what everybody says about Yippee, Glad it's over, etc. I have a question though--what's the correlation, if any, with the sinus surgery/problems and the netipot? I remember you were loving the netipot, but it must not have done the trick.
