Update on Friend
I spent almost all week going back and forth to Sebastian (the town a bit north of here where our friends Don & Nancy live) this week. Don is the friend who has pancreatic cancer.
To start the week off, Nancy had to have an overnight stay in the hospital so they could regulate her blood sugar. She had no idea she has sugar diabetes.
Then, in the evening of the day she came home she called 911 for Don because he was so weak, etc. and his feeding tube that comes from the pump wouldn't stay in the "port".
Anyway, he was dehydrated and started to feel better after the IV.
They say his intestines are all swollen and not functioning so his food just goes straight through him. Also, about 24 hours after putting him on a soft diet (nothing before) he started throwing up. They have now replaced his tube that goes into his stomach and will try feeding him that way again but I suspect it will have the same result.
Sadly, he thinks he is going to resume chemo and go the whole route and have the operation. I don't think Moffitt in Tampa is going to continue treating him. He's too weak. They threatened to stop treatment once before because he kept losing weight.
Didn't mean to write a book. I guess I just get carried away. Too many details.
Thanks for listening.
Love, Shirley
