If it's still computer problems, here's a suggestion. Lou might not be in the mood to consider this right now, though - then again, he might.
Dell still sells certain models with XP Professional, rather than Vista, for the operating system, (they reintroduced it due to popular demand). If you're really dissatisfied with that computer, they might be willing to trade it for one with XP Professional. Or, they might be willing to send you XP Pro, so that Lou could repartition the drive, and install XP Pro.
I don't think that you can do it without their tech help, though, because you have to know certain tricks before the computer will let you install an operating system, since they use proprietary hardware and software.
That's what I would do, if I was tired of fighting it.
