Emily's Medical Profile

Post by ronipow »

Emily started out as a baby very colicy. As she got older she was very moody and irritable. Classic signs of food allergies.

At age 6 she started with horrible GI pains and D several times a day, she also had trouble controlling her bladder at night.

The D started around the time our family went to a whole wheat diet. It was big in the new at the time the whole wheat was the way to go.

A friend of mine who had the Dermititis form of Celiac brought it to our attention that it could be Celiac. So, she had her first Endoscopy at age 6
weighing in at 27 lbs. The doctors reassured me that she was only allergic
to dairy and not wheat.

She did improve with the removal of dairy. She stopped bed wetting immediatly, her stomach cramps disappeared and her freaquency of D disappated.

Fastforward age 16. I took her in to the Dr. for bright red blood in the toilet. Dr. said not to worry unless it happeded again.

She has had body aches for this and that over the past couple of years. We always used Alieve. One pill last all day.

Age 17. Blood in toilet again. This time I explained to the Dr. that I thought she was allergic to wheat when she was a child and this could really be the problem. They agreed to do a gluten sensitivity test for celiac. It came up possitive.

Blood was due to hemorrioids with irritation from NSAIDS. Since removal
no blood.

After a week of research I was encouraged to do the endocopy again. Results were negative again. We also had Prometheus test done. Negative for Celiac. My GI encouraged us to not take her of wheat.

Emily informed us that she has never had a real formed stool.

Against Dr. orders I kept her GF.

She also has Ostiopenia.

Treatment:

2/07/05 Wheat Free - Improvement in two days of body aches
3/07/05 Entecort - lasted 10 days - Very Ill
19 days of missed school
3/30 started on Phenergan to current for neasuea
Tested for allergies through www.leapallergy.com
allergic to 31 foods and chemicals

Started the diet on 4/15 made 50% improvement .
Currently GF, DF, CF mostly SF plus allergy test allergins.

D still continues 3X a day

5/20 sending out for Dr. Fines tests Full Panel

At this time Emily is out enjoying a full life. Still has problems with neaseua after meals. Her D is complete water but not urgent.

Note: D became worse after colonoscopy or Entercort - still puzzeled on that one.

Have an appointment on 6/6 with new GI who is an expert on Celiac.

to be continued......

Emily is having her poop sent to Dr. Fine. We had the full panel done. We are waiting on the results.

5/22/05 Also started on 30mg of Zinc , 600mg coral calcium/magnesium and 1 pro-biotic.
