Gadolinium
Morning All,
I had my brain MRI done on Sunday morning and unknown to me was that it included an IV for baetter contrast. Signed my waiver on the gadolinium they used after reading side effects of nausea, vomiting, headache, other aches, hives, etc. Hey - what choice did I have?
Headache and vominiting the next day and D all day yesterday. I actually feel like I have been hit by a truck. Have read all of the internet stuff on gadolinium and it sure looks like something I would not have chosen but so be it.
Now we will see how long it takes to get the results. Figured if they let me go home that was a good sign.
Love, Maggie

Maggie,
That was a bummer, for sure. We always sign those waivers, (as you say, "what choice do we have?"), and then we hope for the best.
I hope the reaction is past by now, and you're feeling much better. Maybe it's just my imagination, but it often seems that some doctors really don't care how much their patients have to go through, as long as they get a diagnosis, (IOW they feel that the end justifies the means). Of course, in some cases, they have no practical alternatives, and/or they have no way of knowing that we might react adversely.
I hope you receive the results soon, and they are what you are hoping for.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
