I think that is the key to quiting, just like anything you have to make the decision yourself and when the time is right you will know. Good luck with that. I don't know how long you have smoked, but for me, it really bothered me that something was controlling me. Its like it made me angry because of past issues with other's always wanting control of me, and here I was allowing this substance to control me, it just made me mad and disgusted with myself. And I certainly am not over it all yet either. Its going to take allot of time. My younger brother said once that he just felt like he had lost his best friend, and someone else said that here also. Its true. And here in Toronto, smoking is already banned from most places, bars, resteraunts, even the bars that had build smoking rooms, glassed them in and spent all that money, now cannot allow any smoking in them since the new laws came into effect. Basically the only place you can smoke is in your own home, or car, or on the street. For me, I had made this a none smoking home right from the start, even when I was, it was outside only, but I also didn't like the smell when you came back home after being out for awhile. And my clothes too. I found when I was living with my brother, I smoked so much more because you could smoke anywhere, and so you lit up even when you really didn't want one. So that made it somewhat easier here, as no place is associated with smoking. Anyhow, all I do know is that it is different for everyone, and we all have to find our places and make our own choices, whatever that may be. But you would surely get support from everyone here if you did make that choice too. My hardest part of not smoking, is that most of my brothers and sister smoke, so that is a big time problem for me. As I would never want to put anything on them, having grown up with so many rules and restrictions, and judgements always being made, I won't do that to anyone.

Thank you for all the encouragement. I will call my doctor tomorrow and make an appointment to see what she has to see. I am not going to do this cold turkey. I have tried that before and it doesn't work for me. I will take all the help I can get.
Lots of love,
Sally
