In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto
Paleo pals and kitchen buddies-
What I eat and how I eat it has been a remarkable part of my healing so I look for just that kind of thinking. It may not be for everyone but if that is your interest take a look at this remarkable new book. Michael Pollan’s new book is a very interesting take on eating and food. A highly recomended read.

Hi Matthew, old buddy!
I saw this review too and am looking forward to reading the book. I love his philosophy, which is "EAT FOOD, NOT TOO MUCH, MOSTLY PLANTS".
How simple and profound, especially the emphasis on eating FOOD. So much of what people eat nowadays, processed foods in particular, really doesn't qualify as nutritious food. Of course, in some ways we
cave-dwellers are lucky, because our bodies rebelled and forced us to eat real food. And the emphasis on plants is appropriate too - although those of us on the paleo diet do eat meat, we need about half of our calories from fruits and veggies and nuts (which is a LOT of plants). In every study I have ever seen, the healthiest folks are those who eat the most veggies and fruits.
I also like his comment about what our ancestors considered food to be. I'll bet if we started eating only what our great-grandparents recognized as "food" in our diets, we'd be a lot healthier. Can you imagine the look on our ancestors' faces if they looked into our pantries today?
Good to "see" you!
Love,
Polly

So good to “See” you also.
After my diagnosis I was going nuts hunting the grocery store shelves looking for gluten free trigger free foods. That's when I adopted the concept of “shopping the edges of the store’ it simplified my diet, shortened shopping time, was delicious and last but not least it worked.
I wish I had put it as elegantly as Michael Pollan has. Eating “FOOD” has changed my life. So much more inclusive than shopping the edges. In a natural proggresion it has slowly evolved to exactley his words "EAT FOOD, NOT TOO MUCH, MOSTLY PLANTS". Hard to belive that seven words could say so much.
To read a book that backs up my amazing progress through my years of hard work is a joy beyond words.
My best
