Stared Entocort - Week 1 Completed....

Post by ErinD »

Well, I started on Entocort and today has been the completion of my first week on it.

The first day i took it i noticed i was itchy all over. Not to the point i thought it was an allergic reaction, but more like 'winter skin itchy'. That was the only day i felt this. Otherwise i have had no other side effects/reactions at this point.

I have already seen improvement in my BM and how i am feeling. My nausea is gone, my abdominal pain is much less and my stool is actually somewhat formed!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is actually going to help as it's been a long 7 months so i am a bit skeptical, but i am trying to remain positive.

My husband and I had to cancel our honeymoon to Ireland last October due to my illness and we had rescheduled it for the end of April. I am hoping that i will feel well enough by then to make this venture!

I have also found i am getting some of my energy back and i can actually PLAY with my daughter again which she is just thrilled over.

I am still waiting to receive my Enterolab tests but i have a feeling they will be here today (we had a blizzard Monday which i think delayed it a bit). I will be curious to see what that finds.

Just wanted to give an update
Diagnosed with MC on 1/8/2008 after 7 months of flare. 2nd colonoscopy and new diagnosis of UC on 3/11/2008.

Sounds good so far, Erin. :xfingers: that you get your Irish honeymoon. Three and a half years ago I was in your position (colitis, not honeymoon!) and the Entocort worked for me.

Erin,

That's great news. You'll be good as new by April, and those seven months of misery will be only a memory.

If you gave Enterolab your e-mail address, they will usually e-mail the results to you, (rather than mailing them). It usually takes about 10 to 12 days. If it's been than long, (and you gave them your e-mail address), you might check your spam filter, (or your ISP's spam filter), to make sure it hasn't been trapped there.

Erin, I take Asacol but have used Entocort short-term. I find it works quickly, and I've never had side effects from it. :xfingers: it works just as well for you!

I'm betting you get to go on that delayed honeymoon and that you do just fine.
