I'm in shock!

Post by JJ »

OK, this has got to be the last bad thing that happens to me for a long time...I found out today that my rental house is going on the market. I love this house and it has been my anchor during the loss of my job and 2 surgeries...I have 2 International kids living with me and I may have to find a house big enough for all of us....and the $ is another issue....I have had a super good deal on this place and I am on unemployment! If anyone needs to win the lottery, it's me! The other issue is that I may have to move anyway if I find a job somewhere. Too much stress.

Thanks for letting me whine!

What a kick in the butt. You sure have had your share of bad times this year and this one takes the cake. Being that the house is being sold, it just might be the time to really look at a position outside of the area and just start a whole new life. I guess I might be thinking vicariously, but it seems right now that it could be a plan and just might be the best thing for you. Trying to match the rent is always hard to do but will pray that things do get better.

Definitely not whining - seems like I am doing more of that than you these days.

Love, Maggie

Sorry to hear about another straw on your camel's back. Given the state of the housing market these days though, you probably will have plenty of time to look around. Nothing in this area is selling at all. Is it any better in Washington?

Aw Jill,

Lady luck has certainly dealt you a string of bad hands, lately. Still, as Maggie pointed out, this could make a decision about working in another part of the country a little easier to make, if that's an option.

And, unless you've already been told that you will have to move, you might not have to move just because the house sells. Owners of rental houses do appreciate good renters. Here in Texas, land is still kind of booming, but house sales are slooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

Surely, your luck is due to improve, and soon.

Hi guys...thanks for your kind words. I am prepared to move out of state, but I am a private school teacher and I need to find the job first. It is just now starting to heat up as far as jobs go for next year. I was contacted by a school in CA yesterday...they were inquiring whether I wanted to pursue the job at their school. My head-hunter sends out my vitae to all schools with openings, then I follow-up or they contact me. I have also been in contact with a school in D.C. and Baltimore. It is highly competitive, and just because I have an interview, doesn't mean I will get the job.

House sales are slow here too, and I just hope that the sale coincides with my job move. Nevertheless, it will be stressful to have the house picked-up all the time to "show".

You are right.......it is an aggrevation to have to keep a house "ready for inspection" all the time.

I am so sorry you have this added stress at this time and I sure hope something good will break for you in the near future.

I'm sorry to hear about your housing situation and I hope that the market is as slow there as it is here. Also, like Tex said, maybe the new buyers will keep it as a rental property and you won't need to move at all.
Keep your chin up, things will get better

Aw Jill! That cute adorable little house...the one I got to stay in when I visited? BUMMER! I can only say that maybe it's in the cards and something much better is just waiting around the corner for you (like last time you had to move, only that was just across the street  )

Hi again! Barbara, thanks so much for the call! You really cheered me up! Right after we hung up, my landlord called and said he was bringing the appraiser on Friday, along with the agent....this means I have to clean the upstairs!  Anyway, it was great to hear from you and I will be waiting for your "report".

Pegster, yes, I am losing my cute little house on the corner...sniff! There is a house for rent across the street...maybe I should check it out, but I don't want to move unless I have to. Sigh....I don't know what to do....stay put for now I guess. TTFN....JJ
