Do tea bags have gluten in them?

Post by Pat »

Just wondering? I'm trying to be a nit picky as possible. I'm just not responding as well as I expected to the Prednisone. The kind I am using is Lipton Decaf. Ingredients: Decaffeinated orange pekoe and pekoe cut black tea. I am curious about the paper tag and the bag.

Some do, not sure about that one, but if that's all the label lists then it's probably ok. There are various sites and databases that list gf foods. And sometimes the company will have information on their website.

Remember reading somewhere (?) that tea bags without staples may be glued closed with something containing gluten. If the tea is unflavored & has a staple & string, it is probably OK.

Sorry to hear that the Prednisone is still not working that well for you especially since this is your first course I really don't know what else to suggest apart from possible interactions with other supplements and medication. Are you having any side effects at all from the Prednisone? I know you mentioned not sleeping too well but, has this been an ongoing problem before the prednisone?

On a personal level if this medication is not working I would not want to continue taking it due to the risk involved with such a potent drug. From what my GP told me it looks like I will be on Entocort for some time now which once again I have to say has been so much better mainly due to the lack of side effects.

I do hope you find some relief soon the long term D each day is horrid and only those of us who have suffered from it could understand the impact it has on one's life.

Pat,
How long have you been on the Prednisone? Is it helping at all? I have been on Entocort for almost 5 weeks now and not seeing the results i had hoped for either....just curious as i have a feeling my GI may put me on prednisone next...

I will have been on the Pred 3 weeks this Fri. I still take at least 3 Lomotil. Yesterday was bad, but I quit the VSL #3 and took another probiotic (Solaray Multidophilus- says non dairy but only 3 billion) That is the only thing different. I didn't take it today. I just received the Custom Probiotic today. Haven't taken it yet, kinda scared to but scared not to. I had a good day today. So go figure. The Ambien helps with the sleep issue. I had occasional sleep problems (I chalked them up to menopause) before but not like this. This is like being on caffeine or a decongestant. Wired.
