Oma - I think I just saw your yellow bird
It was on a nature show that I was watching and is called a green jay.
Maybe check it out on the web or possibly when Peg comes back on tomorrow she may be able to send a link when she has time.

Here is a picture of a green jay, but I don't consider it to be a match. The only yellow is on the underside, and the head and neck is dark blue and black. (The back is green, obviously). Abeline is about 400 miles north of the range in South Texas where they are even occasionally seen. Texas is a bit too far north for significant populations of the green jay. These are spectacular birds, and pretty hard to misidentify.

Here's another view of the underside:

and another:

The underside is sometimes greenish, as in this photo:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha

Oh well, I tried
Thanks Wayne for finding those photos. The show I was watching was a Bob Steele story and I loved it. In that show the Green Jay looked much yellower too, but sure is a beautiful bird.
Oma, I sure hope you can capture the yellow bird you've seen on film. Lucky woman - living where there's so much wildlife. Wish I could come for a visit.
