What's your Silver Lining?

Post by Becky »

A few days ago, I posted a gf,df product (Namaste Brownies) that made my diet restrictions more bearable. Tex replied about the Kinnikinnick doughnuts. I'm wondering if there's other goodies or recipes that we could share? What's your favorite thing to eat on a gf or df diet?

Sounds good but I would want some blue cheese or sauted buttered mushrooms on top!
What would you have with it for a meal?

This is another meat item but, if you like chicken, try "Crockpot Roast Sticky Chicken". It's in the recipe section posted by Polly. I absolutely love it.

Have you looked at the recipes in there yet?

I hope you find some things you like.

Well, depending on your sensitivities, today I found Kinniknick "oreos"...honesly taste just like the real thing !

Of course now I have a stomach ache. Either because I ate half a bag this afternoon, because I'm sensitive to soy, or because I'm taking the MIL, 2 stepdaughters and their cousin to High School Musical on Ice tomorrow.

Becky,

If you go the Index Page, you should be able to see Recipes and Cooking Tips down in the Personal/Lifestyle group of forums. It's here:

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=7

If the system won't let you see it, you may have a corrupt cookie in your browser. To correct the problem, all you have to do is to clear your cookie cache, (delete all the cookies in your browser, or at least delete the cookie for this website), and close your browser. Then when you re-open it, and log on to this board again, the system should ask you for your username and password, and then it will set a new cookie, and everything should work right.

Anytime something about this board doesn't work right, that procedure should correct the problem, because all navigation and permissions on a php board are controlled by cookies. Please let me know if the system still won't let you see the "Recipe" forum.

Katy,

Where'd you find the "oreos"? Grocery store or Health Food Store? In the Freezer, or with the regular cookies? Or?

Tex

Yeah sauted buttered mushrooms and onions. :)

I usually have fried potatoes with it. But even on it's own it's a wonderful thing. :D

i love to saute mushrooms with canola spread but i also have found a company that makes box mixes of brownies, cookies and cakes that are all Gluten Free, Wheat Free, Diary Free & Nut Free. It's called Cherrybrook Kitchen and they are YUMMY!!!! A little pricey but i find when i make a batch they last me all week

Hi Becky,

Homemade SOUPS! I have become quite the soup-chef! I have found that you don't need dairy to make great, thick soups - you need a blender.

Soups are so versatile. It does take a little time to make them, but they can be frozen in individual servings, nuked for a quick meal, used as a topping for baked potatoes, or used to make a quick "stew" by adding potatoes cooked in the microwave.

My favorites are: carrot (ala Peg's recipe) or any other veg. using the same recipe like asparagus, broccoli, butternut squash, sweet potato, etc. I make chicken with rice or noodles (using Asian rice noodles) and often throw in lots of cabbage for flavor/texture. My latest favorite is a "creamy" clam chowder that is my hubby's favorite soup of all time. Bean soups are filling and yummy too.......15 bean mixes, lima, black, etc.

Oh, and since we are talking about blenders, SMOOTHIES are great for MCers. My favorite blend is 1/2 banana, a handful of frozen wild blueberries (Trader Joe's), and a little pure apple juice. But any and all fruits can be used. It helps to use banana for thickness and frozen fruit to get the cold/icy bit.

Happy eating!

Love,

Polly

I am with Polly on my favorite silver lining - soup of any kind. No dairy needed just a great stick blender or standard one to thicken them.

Love, Maggie
