Low Oxalate Diet

Post by Pat »

Anyone familiar with the Low Oxalate Diet. Dr. Fine talks about this and then I found a website other than the one he recommens.

http://www.lowoxalate.info/index.html

They have a support forum, I really don' like the set up, its a Yahoo forum. Have to have a Yahoo email address, etc.

Anyone have experience with this? They talk about yeast, UTI's, Probiotics, etc. A lot of info.

Pat,

Here's a past discussion that you might be interested in:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks, Tex. The first link doesn't work anymore. But the one I posted has lists of foods and their oxalate content. Don't know if these are a problem or not for me. I am at the point where I will try anything.

I looked at the list of foods that are high in Oxalates. Oh, boy, I eat almost all of them. If I were to eliminate them from my diet, I wouldn't have anything left to eat but meat.

I also looked at a list of salicylate foods (on the list, too) when I had my big D reaction to Pepto Bismol. I eat a lot of those foods, too. Sheesh! I bet I'd be intolerant to manna from Heaven.
You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
