alcoholic beverages info...

Post by CAMary »

Okay-

Last weekend as I froze my tushie off camping I realized I missed something socially about drinking with friends....sometimes a glass of wine just doesn't "fit" ie. camping - I wanted something I could swig out of a bottle, so I saw something at the store up there which I had drank in my youth, but had forgotten about.....I sent them an email and got this lovely response.....

Hi Mary,

Wyder's makes traditional Ciders fermented exclusively from fresh fruit (British Columbia Apples). We then add a natural fruit flavoring and aromatic ester that are free of the malt/grain products that concern you. We learned checking further w/our flavor supplier to make sure that there would be no 'cross contamination' with any malt flavors in their facility, that this possibility is quite remote.

I think this gives Wyder's Fermented Fruit Ciders a Clean Bill of Health! FYI, all the malt coolers, Smirnoff, Bacardi, alcoholic lemonades and sundry yucky coolers are cheap malt based.

Thanks for writing and have a refreshing summer.

Plus it is made in :pigtail: 's neck of the woods so it *must* be good stuff!! I've only seen/tried the pear and apple cider - but never cared for beer too much - this will be an awesome alternative  I expressed my disappointment that the "wine coolers" of my youth no longer exist - and have been replaced by flavored "malt beverages"...

you can check them out at wyders.com

Wow! I've never seen this brand on the east coast, but maybe I've over looked it.

I was dissappointed recently when I got wine coolers only to realize they were malt beverages.

You're right, a glass of wine just doesn't fit the camping motif.

Mary,

Oh, YESSSSSSS, now I can have a DECENT flavoured drink!!!

We frequently have family get-togethers at Trent's parents house, and they're GREAT, they're FUN, because we are easy going and all have a drink or two and relax. But lately, since cutting pop out of my diet, I can't have ANY of my usual drinks!!!! It sucks!!! I've had to resort to *just* apple juice and rum LOL Sounds disgusting but actually not horrible. Just need more variety!

I'm going to check out whether or not we have these available locally and if not, where I can GET them :) They sound great!!!!

Thanks!

Christine

Not a brand available on the East Coast but I sure wish it was. For me, wine is good anywhere but I sure wish I could do red. Tried it again last week and had the same awful D results. Guess white is my future.
