Part 1 of my discision

Post by kate_ce1995 »

Hi all,

Well, I've made part one of my decision. I really am between a rock and a hard place. Even my doc admits I have no "good" alternatives. I am going to go ahead and get the Lupron shots for the next 6 months. MENOPAUSE HERE I COME! I have the script in for the first shot, but they have to order it, so I won't get the actual shot until tomorrow PM (great, another day to think about it).

After the holidays, I will probably have surgery, but I have time to research that thought and think about it some more. And heck, January in Vermont is a much better time of year for lying around recouperating than summer is!

UGH. Its going to be a rough ride. I spoke with my boss this morning and he is being very supportive and realizes that there is not only the physical component of my recovery, but an emotional one as well. I'm out of work this week as well to continue recouperating and getting my blood counts up (I'm still below where I should be, but my doc was happy with how much it had gone up considering how low it was even after 2 pints of blood).

The other emotional thing of the last week, that really didn't start hitting me until yesterday, was that my cat Cocoa dissappeared Monday night. At bed time, she gave Geoff attitude (typical behavior for her), and sat right there in the driveway and would not come in. We haven't seen her since. He has gone up in the woods a couple of times to look for her, but there is too much territory up there. The three possibilities are fisher cat  , she is lost, or she decided she was 10 and getting decrepit and went off to die in peace. :cat:

Awe, Katy,

Very sad news.. your cat and your condition..

At least you have made a decision and feel it's the right one.

I wish you the best, and keep us informed of your progress..

BTW what does "fisher cat" mean?.. I'm embarrassed to say I have NO idea..

I hope you feel better after you get those shots. You've had a long haul of it and need a break. Rest and look after yourself. Nice that your boss is being supportive.

Aww - Cocoa missing. Not a good week so far, eh? I hate it when a cat just disappears. You just don't know what to think when they do that. A few of us have had that happen to us and it's so hard because you always wonder what happened to them. Maybe he'll turn up yet.

Take care - Love - Momster

Aw, Katy, I WISH this wasn't so hard on you. I WISH Cocoa would reappear. I am sending you those good vibes that include cat vibes. They are like our children.

Take care and try to relax.

Your boss sounds super. Good for him.

Lots of love,

Sally

Wow Katy!!

No fun being between a rock and a hard place! I think your decision sounds very well-thought out. I'm glad you have an understanding employer - that makes it easier!!

I'm sorry Cocoa is missing - but I'm w/Christine - I have no idea what a "fisher cat" is :duh: Most of our cats growing up went off to die when they were old and sick (we found one carcass several year later when we re-landscaped....my parents have a natural backyard that backs up to a creek - no rear neighbors - and they found a cat skeleton when building a retaining wall...)

Take care of yourself!

Love,

Mary

Fisher cats are in the weasle family, but their heads look like cats, hence the name. They have been known to prey on house cats. THey aren't bigger than a house cat, but they are fiesty. Geoff has not seen signs of them up in the woods, but who knows. Cocoa is also quite fiesty though too, so I like to believe she would fight it off. If she is lost, I hope she finds her way home. She is a though cookie and can hunt, so I'm not worried about that if she is lost. We've got at least 300 acres of undeveloped woods out behind our property.

I think you have made a very well thought-out decision and hope that everything proceeds well. Also, your boss sounds just wonderful and I applaud him for recognizing that healing emotionally is also so very important.

May your cat find her way home but I know our dog Skeeter also just went to the woods one day. He was very old and definitely well and just wanted to be in a peaceful place.

Love, Maggie

Katy,
I surely hope you will be feeling a lot better SOON. I'm so glad you go help when you did.

Also hoping Cocoa will find her way home to you. I wish it hadn't happened right now when you aren't feeling up to par anyway.

Well Katy, like the others have also said, it seems that you have made a well thought out decision. I have edemetriosis too, but you have the other problem of fibroids, with both of them causing problems for you it is not much fun. It also sounds like you have a really understanding boss, that makes it so much easier when you have to be off work. It would have been a totally different story with your old job and bosses wouldn't it? Anyway, hope you are resting well and taking it easy.

Gentle hugs

Thinking about you

Post by harvest_table »

Katy,

Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you...I'm sure you put alot of thought into this decision.

One of our cat's disapeared and showed back up at the house 12 days later looking a little thiner but happy to be home. I still wonder where she was and what she was up too. We looked everywhere and put up flyers. Hope she returns to you soon.

Love,

Katy,

Sounds like a workable plan. Especially since you are between a rock and a hard place. Why can't the problem just GO AWAY?

You must be so upset (no, devastated) about Cocoa, but there is still hope for a safe return. I am sending all of my best positive thoughts and vibes. Are you SURE he's not hiding in a closet or drawer somewhere in the house? Remember when Sally's cat Marmalade did that for days? Her cat and mine NEVER would cry or scratch when they got stuck somewhere - they just quietly waited for us to find them.

Love,

Polly

Hi Katy,
Glad you made a decision - any decision is better than no decision. You should be feelig better about that. I agree, winter months would be my choice for recuperation too!

I'm sending good thoughts for kitty to come home - I know it is hard to lose a pet.

Glad you are feeling better, take care of yourself and use the week for YOU!
