What An Emotional Day!

Post by Dee »

I don't know how many of you remember the tragic situation in Ohio, that brought national attention, of the pregnant, 26 year old girl, whose cop lover, murdered her and the unborn child that was due in 2 weeks before her death. Where this took place is about 20 minutes from where I live. She also had a 2 year old son by this man, that was left alone in her duplex, after her murder, for 24 hours. This cop then wrapped her body in a comforter, and dumped it in a National park to rot. When her Mother could not reach her daughter by phone, she & another daughter drove over to the duplex to find the little 2 year old alone. That is when the poor little guy started saying, Mommy was crying, Mommy hit the table, Mommy's in the rug.... There were thousands of citizens that took it upon themselves to start searching for her .. The search went on for days..
On the tenth day, the cop finally told the authorities where they could find her body, knowing that by that time that the body would be so decomposed that the forensic specialists could not determine a cause of death.
The trial took place 2 weeks ago and the cop was found guilty on 7 counts.
After 2 days of deliberations, today the jury recommended his sentence.
Life in prison without the possibility of parole for 34 years.
I was not prepared today when the judge let her 3 sisters, her Father & her Mother speak before he gave the final sentence...
Since the beginning of this situation and the events that played out, I felt a closeness to this family even though I have never met them. This had touched my heart in a way that I can't explain.
When the family spoke it brought out of me every emotion that I have felt thru all of this.
So, the judge's final sentence is 57 years of life in prison, with no possibilility of parole..

Thanks for being here and letting me talk about it..

Love

I didn't realize that it was so close to where you live. I think all of Ohio has been tuned in to this tragedy. To add to your story - IMO, the man didn't show any remorse until he HAD to admit what happened (his version anyways). I just don't know what the world is coming to.

Thankfully, the little boy was safe and is now in his grandmothers care. What a doll he is too!

Love and  to you -

I'm so sorry that you were touched by this tragedy, I happened to be watching the news today when they broke in about getting ready to sentence him. After hearing about what he did, my only regret is that they didn't give him the death penalty. But maybe living out his life in a cage is more fitting.

We have had our own emotional day here, my little sister who teaches in AR was not answering her cell phone and today they had a shooting apparently at her school. We were frantic by the time she finally emailed us to say that she was okay and that the shooting was at a different campus. I was so happy to hear from her that I forgot to yell at her for not emailing or calling sooner...

Ah Dee what a sad story it really is heartbreaking and at times when we see and hear of this horrid events that take place we can form an emotional attachment to these people. That poor child I am glad to hear that the mother had 3 sisters hopefully it will fill some of the loss of his mother.

Sending big hugs :bigbighug:
