Calling Kelly

No way did I take your view on Pred. as a no-no--
I am sorry what U went thru also---
When My GI ,in the city --(who also has a terrific reputation) says *U will do this/that* U do it!!!
He was so very furious when he heard my story of how GI # 1 did *nada* for me and thus my condition worsened----so I did whatever he said--I shall never forget his words to me(and often heard here) *Barbara I cannot CURE U but I can give U back A LIFE---and that he did--

I didnt have all those issues that U Xperienced---which had to be horrid--
AND I didnt start on 60 mgs---wow!!!
His way was 30 mgs----taken in 10 mgs thru the day---
And the way he weaned U off the P--took about 2 months--It was a very slow process----and it worked great---

Now I am fine but have taken the reverse role---
Its a trip aging-----cus ya never know what the turn in the next road will bring---

Hang in----U can get to a better place---

luve Barbara :flyingdoveleft:

PS> I had to add this----Entocort has worked great for many---when I took it I had bad reactions---After taking it for just 2 days I started to have NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS--so---was STOPPED faster than fast---

Hello Barbara,

No problem and I do understand what we go through sometimes can just be frustrating, among exhausting. I am glad that I found this board and have met some really wonderful people.

I was so frustrating and just felt hopeless with GI #1 basically acting as if "oh well", and was so upset to hear he did not take any biopsies during the colonoscopy. It was like he kind of shrugged his shoulders and I had no clue what to do. Thankfully now though the GI I am seeing is really a great guy and has set up so many tests in a short amount of time that it is kind of head spinning.

Yes, 60 mg of Prednisone was a nightmare :hissyfit: Good thing is it worked; I just wish it did not have as many side effects with it, haha. Then when the second flare happened in Jan he wanted to up me to 80mg and I told him "No I am NOT doing it and 60mg was high enough".
I have been slowly tapered, but a week ago when I took my last pill, I felt great for a day. Then on Monday my heart started to race and pound very hard, I became very lightheaded, extreme dry mouth and hands started to shake. I called my GI and asked if this was normal and he called me back and said no, that it was a reaction to getting off of the Pred and I was to go back on 5mg for 7 days and then 2.5 for another 7 to go slower and give my body a chance to regroup when tapering off. Good thing is at least on these low mg doses the side effects are not as harsh

I am sorry to hear about your reverse role and gosh that would be tough to deal with. I am hoping things get easier for you!! Thank you for the support and it is nice to meet you. I am just keeping my chin up and keeping hope that sooner or later we will get this figured out so life will even out for me. I try to keep my sense of humor (which helps) and often joke I should buy stock in Charmin toilet paper!

Kelly

I hate prednosone!!! Nasty stuff, sometimes we need it though. The only time I was glad to have it was when I had a chemical pnuemonia and it landed me in the hospital. Sorry you went through that. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
