Oma, migraine headache

Post by hazel »

Oma, I didn't know you got migraine headaches. I do, too. Have had 2 start up in the last week. I used to be able to head them off with Aleve or Ibuprofin if I took it the minute I noticed the aura. Now that I can't take NSAIDS I take 2 tylenol and lie down with a cloth over my eyes for a couple of hours. For a while there'll be a dagger in one of my eyes, but then it lets up. I read migraines were related to hormones, but I don't think I have so many of those any more. I wonder if other folks on the board get them.

Anyway, how do yours act? Maybe it's another related thing, like the joint pain. My flare is into its third month, by the way! I'm having fun with gf cooking, but no good results as of yet.

Hi there!! My migraines start with a black speck in one eye, either one and it turns into a sparkling ring that grows in size. If I don't take something before it breaks then I get a migraine. There's no pain until the sparkling ring breaks.
I used to have migraine medicine but it is real expensive. I can take tylenol 3 get prone with a rag over my eyes and hope for the best. Usually the tylenol 3 will help but once in a great while it will require a shot at the ER. I have learned that If I eat too much cheese and fresh bread then I get a bad headache, but I have stopped eating bread and most of the time I don't eat cheese. But a few days ago I did and more than normal. I also think I had a bit of stress going. But the stress has gone away. How are you doing? Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance

Yep, I used to get them when I was reacting severely, and as both of you mentioned, if I couldn't stop one before it developed, within a few hours I would be nauseated, and sometimes vomiting, and I would be pretty much stuck in bed for a couple of days while it ran it's course. I always had pretty good luck with Tylenol, as long as I took it soon enough, and with a meal, (or at least a snack). I was never able to get a response from it on an empty stomach, though.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Funny this should come up-----again--since I had my back CEE-mented--I have been having headaches on and off-----and I NEVER suffered with headaches--

So I have taken an ALLEVE now and again--and that stuff is wonderful--

Barbara---

PS. have to add---when I started on my first THYROID meds. that also gave me headaches--and other annoyances--so when I called her up she changed me to something else---and that worked better--
