Bristol Stool Score
I found an IBS website with this poll and accompanying chart: http://www.ibsgroup.org/main/poll.shtml
It assigns a number to the type of stool you're having. A drawing of each type of stool is included - no, it's not really gross when you've been spending your days evaluating your stools. LOL
I thought it might be helpful when describing the your stool to your doctor or to members of this board. Only you guys would understand why this is important.
I initially told my GI that I wasn't having D because I thought all D was watery. When I described my stool to him, he said I was definitely having D. So - I hope this helps someone.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.

A couple of years ago, our own inimitable Sally posted her "Poopies File" in "The Poop Room". No pictures, but there are 39 entries, and the descriptions are pretty vivid. LOL.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Gloria,
Thanks for posting that. I had run across that two days before my colonoscopy, and found it interesting that D is equal to at least 5-7. Things had started to get a bit better for me prior to the test, and I thought I was getting better, but then I read up on the Bristol Stool Scale and found out I was wrong.
It is a great tool to use to discuss with the GI doc.
Thanks again!
