Need some info. PLEASE

Post by barbaranoela »

Well endo called me this morning to say that my NODULES have gotten bigger and I have to have another biopsey done---

I didnt know that the nodules could keep growing??? and of course my mind is wandering off again---and I got to the  stage and of course Mr. L. makes light of the situation---

Cant have it done till April!!!!cus they are booked----so that upset me---tell me something like that I wanna be there PRONTO--

So L. says if it be anything to worry about they would have me in--
WELL to me NODULES GROWING is something to worry about--

So anybody have something to add to this--

thanks--
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

I know that news like that can be very upsetting, but Lou's right - if they thought that you were in any real danger, they would find a way to get those additional tests done "right now".

In fact, it's very common for thyroid nodules to increase in size, but that doesn't seem to have any significant correlation with malignancy, according to statistics. Actually, the odds are almost overwhelming that you have nothing to worry about. Read this report about a research project, which describes exactly what you are dealing with:

http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/138/4/I-60

As you can see, according to this research report, they studied 330 nodules that had increased in size, but they found only one that was malignant. That's almost an insignificant number, as far as most medical odds are concerned. It doesn't get much better than that.

Sorry about the additional frustration, but, as Tex & Lou said, if they really thought it was something life threatening they'd get you in there quickly.
